Chapter 142: Kariya! Countdown to Detonation (1)

Kuroki's pov

"I cannot believe you thought it was a great idea to leave the hospital when you just had major surgery!" Toshihiro shouted, looking furious as he stood in front of me. Everyone had gathered at Toshiro's office, as we needed to let them know about Kariya's plan. Uryu was getting medical attention and when Rukia and the others first arrived at the office, they weren't too happy with me. Neither was Renji, he was angry about me leaving but he knew that arguing with me would get him nowhere. Uryu was currently laying across the floor, bandaged up and he told us of his fight with a bount. Renji had also received medical attention, "I'm fine now, Toshihiro. It's not that big of a deal." I said, crossing my arms. Rangiku shook her head as she listened to the argument, "Not that big of a deal?!!" He snapped, "You almost died!! Not once but twice! And now you are running around when you just had surgery not even a day ago to fight Kariya!" He yelled, "You know I'm not letting Ichigo fight Kariya on his own. He could kill Ichigo." I argued, "You let Ichigo fight Byakuya on his own. And Kenpachi. Both of them could have easily killed him." Toshihiro argued, Ichigo went to say something but I gave him a look to say don't intervene. Renji went to say something as well but when he saw the look I gave Ichigo, he backed down and sat next to Ishihara. "I didn't let Ichigo fight on his own. Ichigo sent me away before I could do anything. He literally threw Rukia and I at Renji. There was no way I would get anywhere with arguing with him about it and he made Renji leave. Secondly, Ichigo also made sure that I never fought Kenpachi because Kenpachi is a blood thirsty bastard and he would have been worried about me the whole time. Both instances I tried staying with him and he didn't let me so don't make it seem like I was okay with anything! I wasn't! I'm not going to let him fight another person without help! I cannot just let him fight on his own and possibly die! I'm not losing my big brother like I lost my mother!" I snapped, Toshihiro went quiet as everyone else sat in silence. "Don't you dare ever accuse me of being okay with leaving Ichigo to fight on his own against dangerous people. I never was. And I never will be." I took in a deep breath, looking away from Toshihiro.

"I-"

"I think you two just need some space from one another. All of us have been out fighting and we are absolutely stressed out." Rukia suggested.

"Rukia's right." I shook my head, looking at Rangiku.

"I didn't expect all of you to be in here." Our heads turned to see Toshiro walk through the door, he was surprised to see us sitting in here. I had learned from Rangiku that he had been fighting off a bount, "Captain, what happened with the bount?" Rangiku asked, standing to her feet. "I took care of it. There's no need to worry about that." He responded, "Hey Toshiro, sorry about taking over your office but we needed a place to hold a meeting." Ichigo said, "You are doing that on purpose. How many times have I told you and your sister to use my title and last name when addressing me?" Toshiro questioned, it made slightly smile when Ichigo said that it didn't matter. "Why exactly are you in my office?" Toshiro asked, "Well.. Kuro, Chad and I ran into Rangiku when we were looking for Kariya." Ichigo explained. "We also needed a place for Uryu to rest, he was badly injured after his fight with a bount. Us running into each other was perfect timing." Ririn interjected, "Besides, we lacked a base of operations in the Soul Society, we really are lucky." Kurodo stated, I shook my head because they were not making things better.

"We're sorry for the intrusion." Noba apologized.

Ichigo asked politely if we could keep using his office and despite the inconvenience, it seemed Toshiro decided to keep us here seeing as he really had no choice. Uryu woke up and grunted in pain, making Ririn and I concerned. "I'm alright." Uryu said, "Are you in pain?" Toshiro asked, looking concerned. "I will be fine. I take full responsibility for any injuries I end up with. After all, I am the one who brought the Bounts here." Uryu said, "Uryu..." Ishihara said sadly, he looked very concerned for Uryu's health. "If Orihime was here, she would have been able to heal his wounds." Chad spoke up, I'm surprised he said anything because he has been quiet since we got here. "Where is Orihime by the way?" Ishihara asked, "She's helping the Soul Reapers back at the gate to the Soul Society." Ichigo explained, "The fight with the Bounts have left a lot of the Soul Reapers in the Seireitei injured which has kept the fourth division busy. Someone should be coming soon to help Uryu, I contacted them as soon as I found out he was injured." Renji explained. "His injuries aren't life threatening, he will be fine. Although, he will not be able to fight." Toshiro reassured us. "I came here to fight." Uryu said, "In your condition, there is no way you can. And don't argue with me, I was in your spot not that long ago and needed surgery." I said, looking down at Uryu. "There is no need to be hasty. Sawatari and Mabashi have been defeated. Now with Koga being defeated, there is only one Bount left in the Soul Society."

"Kariya..." Rui said.

"It's amazing how you easily defeated his doll, Dalk. She gave us so much trouble."

"I wouldn't call it easy. Koga was acting very strange during the fight, he didn't even seriously injury the Soul Reapers he came across." Toshiro explained.

"That's odd. Even for a bount."

"What happened with Kariya?" Toshiro turned his attention towards Ichigo and I, "He was talking about a great power." Ichigo started, "Which he calls the Jokaisho, he is planning to blow up the entire Seireitei with it." Renji said, "To Koga that was too extreme." Toshiro said, making me wonder if all the Bounts that worked under Kariya felt the same way. "We failed at being able to stop him from accessing the Jokaisho." Chad said, "There's no point in worrying about now, it's already done." Ichigo said, "What about Maki Ichinose? What happened to him?" Toshiro asked, "Captain Kenpachi stopped him." Just as we were settling in, the door suddenly opened and in rushed Orihime and Izuru, both of them looking worried. "Orihime, what are you doing here?" Ichigo asked, "I finished healing Jidanbo and found members of the Third Division at the gate when I went to look for you all." She explained, "Kuro, I'm so glad to see you're okay. I heard about what happened from Izuru. Are you really okay?" She asked, "I'm fine. Don't worry." I said.
