Awaking from something that had made me feel more alive than anything before, like the last dream lesson with Una and Cass, was almost confusing. I started to doubt which was the sleeping part.
Even more so, when I was forced downstairs by loud knocking by a cop who now stood in front of me. As she was trying to tell me that my parents got shot on the way home from the supermarket all I could do was to look at this gun.
What else would it be? In a country where more than 80 million people are so scared that they have a weapon at home, where in one year 18 million of them are sold, almost 700 mass shootings happen in the same year, and more than 20 000 people are killed by guns every year. What was there to be expected?
When Eldion hat tried to explain to me that he needed to interfere in our world as well, I had not been aware that he was not the only one with such an idea.
The fact that it had been so easy to wipe out my parents literally pulled the rug out from under my feet.
Five minutes later I lay on the couch of my parents' living room trying to realise that they would never enter this place or my life again.
The officer was very kind to me. She had even sat down next to me, waiting patiently for me to come to my senses again.
Then she told me that it seemed to have been a robbery and that there was no trace of the culprit. She asked me some stupid questions, while I was trying to figure out what was going on here.
The only thing I understood at that moment was that from now on there would be no separation between dream and waking world anymore, and that maybe there had never been.
What I did not know then was who was pulling the strings behind all this. Or that he was sort of a brother of Eldion and Una.
I was just sitting there. So shocked and speechless that I even didn't feel the tears streaming down my face, staring into the sheer emptiness of my remaining existence.
