In the evening of my arrival, when we had settled down in the living room, Jason remarked that he had that feeling that the way I was and what my birth certificate was saying were totally different things.
I told him that I had had a lifetime of being the parent to my mother that had prepared me for this. But deep down I also knew that there was more to that.
It was not easy to put into words. I already knew that whatever would come out of my mouth would be far too easy to pronounce to be a possible truth. But here I was and words were all we had this moment. So I tried.
"Can you remember the time, when you were a child, and you had this notion of magic in your life, where everything was not only possible but real. And you already had an understanding of the world that your parents represented to you, full of rules, laws and limits?"
"Yes!"
"So, later we are conditioned to believe that the first one was just an illusion due to our development, giving way for the real life of scarcity and lack. And - puff - all the magic is gone. We are ready to work in a world of linear time and absolute space."
"So, if I get you correctly, you imply that this is not how things really are?"
"Bingo! It's the opposite. When I was dead, I could only get a glimpse of what is going on, but what I experienced was impossible to tell. I just know for sure that as children we are closer to it and that most adults have completely lost a sense of their true selves. The funny thing is that our laws and science are in fact the ones that are childish and naive, like the concept of space and time."
I could see that Jason was trying to process everything, not sure what to ask next, until he had made his decision, "And what about my parents? Do you know where they are now?"
I smiled at him and just said, "Where should they be? You see that is the problem with concepts that do not work. They leave us puzzled, once they fail to explain."
"You mean they are here?"
"One is one. Always. That is the truth that I was given."
