Chapter twelve: I’ll show you a few things or two

Evelyn’s P.O.V

To say that I was enraged with his proclamation would be an understatement. Here’s a guy that waltz’s in and acts like he’s the boss of everything within a ten metre radius, and expects me to put up with it easily. Yeah, he’s annoying and has an amazing voice with mindblowing musical talents to match, but even at that there should be some permission from me given. If he wasn’t suck a prick, then maybe I wouldn’t have minded so much, but he is one. Somehow he manages to make me so mad that it’s at the point where I wouldn’t be surprised if steam came from my ears, then makes a full one eighty and leaves me swooning.

Is it normal to be so conflicted?

Clearing my head, I took deep breaths in and let my thoughts organize themselves. Some of them completely defy other thoughts and just have my head hurting overall. A part of me is saying that if I allow him to stay and get to know him better, he will get to see the real me and maybe I could reveal my identity to him. While the arguing side of me thinks that I should be more firm and find a way to rid of him; if he can’t accept me as Evelyn, then he doesn’t deserve me as Valerie.

“When was this decision made again?” I asked with a hand on my hip.

“Just a while ago; why?” He asked in response.

“Oh, I was just wondering because I know that I’ve never agreed to that,” I said.

“If you don’t want anyone to know that you’ve been hiding out in here, you’d think twice about arguing,” lying back and putting his hands behind his head he replied.

With that out in the air, I bit my lip as I thought over what he was directly threatening. On one hand, I could risk giving up this place and have everything go back to normal or just let him stay.

“Well if you’re going to be staying here, there’ll have to be a few rules that you have to follow or I will personally show you the door,” I said with a sigh. He only smirked but didn’t reply which I took as a sign to continue.

“First of all, what happens in here stays in here. Got it?” I asked as I stood in front of him; giving him my best death look I could muster, which wasn’t that hard around him. He just looked at me with a bored expression and waited for me to continue. Taking a deep breath, I began stringing together a list of rules.

“Ok, here it goes. Asides from not speaking a peep that goes on in here, you are not allowed to mess with anything that I have set up. I’ll be leaving things in certain places and I expect that you do not misplace or trouble them. If I find some things been moved, it ain’t gonna be pretty in here. I expect that you will respect what I say, but being you, that rule is probably not going to happen. You don’t let anyone into this room at all or you’ll regret it. I'm not a person to mess with, but if you dare to cross me.....ooooh, you’ll never know what hit you,” I finished with a slight shake of my head.

A little spark of amusement lightened his eyes as he got up and walked towards me until he was right in front of me. He had a good four inches on me, but it didn’t frighten me as much as it should have. He raised a brow as I crossed my hands over my chest; jutting my hip out to the side for emphasis. A smirk slipped on his lips as he leaned towards my ear. His cool breath tickled it as he said,

“I'm not one to go by rules. But I’ll see what I can do my little minx,” and swept his lips teasingly close to the corner of my lips. His head pulled back as I narrowed my eyes even narrower at his choice of nickname.

“I am not yours and I refuse to be called that name,” I seethed as I stared at him with distaste.

“Am I supposed to care if you like the name or not?” he looked around for a bit and looked at me with a startled look, as if to say that he was just catching on.
