Chapter three: If Chase is here, things can’t go all too well I'm sure.
Grumbling to myself as I made my way up to my room, I stomped with every step I took. Sometimes that boy can be way too unmanageable for me. And he’s my brother so that should indicate something! As I sat on my bed fuming, I glared menacingly at the loveseat at the end of my bed as I sat on the high mattress. Sitting there is doing me no good because I'm sure if anyone decided to grace their presence upon me, I’ll probably end up throwing something at them.
Don’t ask.
Hearing a buzz from my phone on the side table, I picked it up and glanced at the screen that said ‘1 new message’
Unlocking it, I thumbed through the inbox to find the highlighted one; which is the new one. I read the words on the screen and calmed down a bit to smile at myself.
‘You ok Evie? I know what really happened today; make sure to put some ice on your wrist before you go to bed. Love you –Iman’
How she managed to know what actually went on is beyond me, but I was grateful that she hadn’t brought up the topic over lunch. We’ve been friends for ages and sometimes I forget that she reads me like I'm an open book. As close as we were, she didn’t know about everything that happened to me, but she knows more than Jenna. It’s hard to trust her because I only met her a few years ago and there’s a possibility that she could just be using me. I'm just waiting for her to leave me; just like everyone else has.
‘I'm not even gonna ask how you know, I’ll be sure to do so. Thanks, love you too. –Evie’
As I sent a text, I was hit with a wave of mischievousness and quickly composed a new group text for Jenna, Iman and I.
‘You guys up for a sleepover tomorrow? –Evie’
I got replies from both of them saying sure, it’d be fun. Smiling to myself, I fell asleep on a happy note.

Opening my eyes from the light tickling my face, I stretched my hands over my head while yawning. Blinking my eyes to rid of the blurriness, I rolled over onto my side to find out what time it is. Focusing my eyes on the green neon numbers situated on front of the digital clock, I learnt that it was in fact time for me to get up and get ready in order to have breakfast and get to school in time.
Moving my shoulders back until they made that reassuring popping noise, I sat up. Yawning, I covered my mouth and threw the covers off of my body. Along with the covers went with my warmth that I hopped up quicker so I could get into the shower that was beckoning me with its water that promised a warmth replacement. Looking at the clothes set out in its designated place, I walked over to them. Picking them up without taking a second glance, I turning the pipe out to the max once I entered the washroom.
As it ran out the pipe, I took a half step back to close and lock the door. Stripping down to the nude, I literally jumped in the shower and let out a sigh of content. Sure I almost slipped and could have broken my neck but, like, ya know, YOLO.
Ah, the wonders of what quotes can do in situations when you need to cover up your stupidity.
Letting the heat engulf my skin for a few moments, I stood still. After a few seconds I picked up my sponge and scrubbed my body. As my hand ran over my wrist, I cried out in pain for two reasons. The first, the cut under my bracelet hadn’t fully closed up so the soap suds were able to burn the exposed flesh; and the second was because I must have applied too much pressure to my cut wrist with the hand Chase had gripped yesterday.
