Chapter seven: As they say, don’t judge a book by its cover.
“Guys, why don’t you take a seat over there while I go and get ready?” I asked Jenna and Iman as they looked around the room in a daze.
“Sure,” Came their airy reply.
I shook my head in amusement and hoisted my bag that held my Judo, Karate and Taekwondo clothing. As I walked into the changing area, I flinched slightly as I heard the slam that came after the door closed. Pulling out my Judo clothing, I quickly stripped and dragged it on; after having done that, I pulled a bungee off my wrist and tied my hair up in a tight bun to secure it. Fixing up the rest of my uniform, I took a few deep breaths to calm myself down before exiting the room.
When I made it outside, I looked around for my master that was waving at me frantically. Just behind him Jen and Iman were sitting like I had told them to. Walking over, I looked at him and the person that was supposedly my opponent. As I approached them, I saw that they were arguing with wild hand gestures. Coming into ear shot, I heard,
“-But she’s a girl! I can’t fight her. I’ll probably end up breaking her nails- or ruining her hair at the most,” He sneered nastily at the master.
“Excuse me?” I asked in surprise. My friends were watching the exchange with interest, as I could tell.
“It’s a rough sport and wimps like girls shouldn’t be allowed to play,” He replied heftily.
Looking him up and down, I took in his features. He had light sandy brown hair along with piercing blue eyes. Sure he towered over me, but didn’t scare me off the least bit.
“Oh really?” I asked with a raised eyebrow.
“Oh really- my ass.” He mimicked.
That was it, this kid’s going down. Bowing quickly, my leg shot out and made contact with his lower abdomen. It wasn’t enough to get him down, but he did bend over for a second. Taking this to my advantage, I grabbed his shoulder and brought my feet into a roundhouse kick with a finishing kick in the crotch with all my fueled anger towards him. That was surely enough for him because when I let go, he was on the floor writhing in pain.
“You were saying?” I asked innocently as I used my puppy dog eyes look.
“Bitch,” He groaned out; clutching his man parts.
“I know you are, but what am I?” I cleverly replied over my shoulder as I went to talk with the girls.
“Wow. That was impressive! That guy just got serveddd.” Jenna said as she dragged out the end of the word.
“Why have you been hiding all this power from us girl?” Iman asked; shock still apparent on her face.
“I wasn’t hiding it; I just didn’t have an occasion in which I would need to use it.” I replied with a shrug.
“That was legitimately amazing!” They gushed.
I nodded as I walked back towards the master. The guy was still on the ground but I didn’t even spare him a second glance. As I listened to him explain that I’d have to wait until the next opponent came, I nodded my head in approval. No later than two minutes did my next opponent arrive and our match began.
I went through all the matches I had to and won a few here and there, lost some as well, but overall there weren’t any problems. After my last match, I packed up my Judo clothing after changing out of them and undid my bun. As my hair fell past my shoulders, I shook it out. My scalp started to throb from it being tied so tight, but I massaged my head to cool it down as all three of us made our way to my car.
