Chapter five: It’s the party in the USA
As I tried to slip into the front door as quiet as possible, I was just about to tip toe up the stairs when I heard a throat being cleared behind me. I froze and turned around praying for it not to be my father; if it was, hell would break loose. But to my luck, it was instead my mother and she had the most deathly look I’ve ever seen on her face before. I gulped nervously and straightened up a bit, going over the C major scale on my thigh. I’ll admit it’s a weird habit that I have that tends to happen when I get nervous.
Looking at my mom anxiously, I kept going through the eight supposed keys as I waited for her to say something.
“Where have you been young lady?” she asked sternly.
“Um,” I whimpered slightly, not really used to this side of my mother.
“I was at school...” I trailed off shakily.
“Doing what I may ask?” Now here comes the part that I'm either going to have to lie or tell the truth about me skipping detention.
“Well, you see......” I laughed as I scratched my neck, but I was cut off by my mother bursting out into laughter as she bent down.
“You should have seen your face.” She wheezed out between her laughter. I tried to calm my heart rate as she stood back up, wiping tears from her eyes.
“I have no clue how your father does it!” she said, referring to how stern he was when it came to me. Obviously it’s not cut out for my mom because she cracked very easily.
“Mom! You nearly gave me a heart attack! I actually thought I was in deep shit.” I revealed as I held a hand over my heart.
“Oh well. You’re just lucky that your dad is busy with some people at the studio otherwise you’d really be in for it.” She said with a wink as she walked off. See, this is why I love my mom; she’s not as strict as my dad in some ways.
“Yea.” I admitted as my shoulders slumped in relief.
“Well, I'm just going to drop Ty at one of his friend’s house so I’ll be back in a while.” She told me before turning on her heel to yell for Tylar. He came running towards us at lightning speed and attacked my legs with his arms. I laughed and bent down to his level so he could hug me properly.
“Well, we’ll be off now. See you in a bit.” My mom concluded as she came back with Ty’s overnight bag.
“Ok, see you later.” I said as I ventured into the kitchen to set down all my bags. Once I heard the reassuring click of the door being closed I let out a breath and pulled off my stuff before tying my hair into a messy bun on the top of my head.
Getting something to eat first, I sat at the island and munched on some leftovers I found in the fridge. When I was done and fuelled up with energy, I hopped out my seat and dumped all the contents I bought onto the ground.
“Now this is going to be fun.” I commented evilly as my eyes roamed over all the objects sprawled on the ground.
“Riley, can you get the UV lights ready?” I spoke into the intercom. A reply of reassurance came from her after and I proceeded to get everything sorted out.

“I'm sexy and I know it.” I sang as I had my hands behind my head and wiggled my lower half.
