Chapter two: Caught in the act.......
With the tears flooding my eyes, I don’t know what took over me. The pain overcame me which turned my brain numb. I can’t think straight but without my permission, my legs started to walk in the direction of the bathroom. All of the movements I did, I had no control over. As I made a jerked movement, the blade slid across my skin lightly, but enough to produce blood. When I was in full consciousness, the damage had already been done.
My eyes widened as I looked at the blood flowing from the open wound so I quickly rinsed it out and grabbed a bandage. As I was cleaning it, I shook my head to myself in disgust.
I promised myself, I wouldn’t do it again. Not since he left m-no. I will not think about our encounters because I must stand and stay strong; I thought to myself.
Inspecting the cut, it seems like it won’t leave a scar....unlike the others. Grabbing a Hope bracelet from my side table drawer, I slipped it onto my wrist; over my bandage. I ran a shaky hand through my locks as I took in steady breaths. Sometimes I'm so ashamed of myself for how weak I am, that I have suicidal thoughts. But one laugh from Davey, Tylar, Dad or even mom brings me out of those thoughts and refrain me from going through with them.
I know they love me and I wouldn’t do such a cruel thing to them out of selfishness. Taking a quick shower and putting on my pajamas, I wandered down the long hallways and grand staircase until I was met with a sound of laughter. A smile tugged at my lips without my knowledge as I quickened my steps towards the musical sounds.
“Evie!!” A little voice screamed as he ran towards my legs.
“Hey Tyty!” I greeted with matched enthusiasm.
“Look what I made!” he exclaimed as he pulled me by the hand further into the extravagant Victorian styled living room.
Sitting down and crossing my legs, I waited for him to reveal whatever he was so excited about. As he brought it out, I was busy looking at my dad as he sat reading the newspaper with my mom on his lap. I smiled at how in love they still were and did almost everything together. From what my relatives’ told me, they were best friends and still are. Except, with a more renounced title know as ‘husband and wife.’
Looking at them being all cozy brought more hope to me that nerds can find love too. But as always, Chase’s face pops into my mind as well as his words. As the smile slowly slipped off my face, I blinked really quickly to prevent myself from shedding unshed tears. But when I turned towards Tylar, boy did they fall. A smile presented its self on my face as my heart warmed immensely.
He had a family portrait of all five of us, but I was bigger than everyone. And at the bottom it read,
‘My favourite family member.’
He smiled at me widely, waiting for any other signs of reaction. I pulled him close and hugged him tightly as more tears fell. He was laughing all the while, saying something about girls are so emotional. If only he knew how much truth his four year old words held. Eventually, I joined in with his laughter as I pulled away; wiping any other tracks of tears from my cheeks.
“That is really touching Ty.” I commented with a small smile.
“Thank you! Can I hang it up on the wall?” He asked as he looked up at me with his large brown eyes.
You see, my dad has blue eyes and brownish hair while my mother posses red hair and brown eyes. Nodding, I stood up and stuck out a hand for him to take. We wandered around the house until he found the spot he wanted to hang it. Our house is filled with memories and art work from our young ages so it’s always interesting to look back at them as we grow up.
