AUTHORS POV

At evening.

So, there I was, standing right in front of Mr. and Mrs. Min’s big fancy house, my heart beating faster than normal. The house was so huge that for a second I felt so small in front of it. The big iron gate, the shining lights on both sides, the clean garden with trimmed plants, everything looked so rich.

I could feel the nervousness crawling inside me. Mr. and Mrs. Min had invited me and my parents to meet their son. But the truth was so funny—little did she know that her son and I were like oil and water. We never mixed. Always opposite. Always at odds.

I took a deep breath and rang the bell, my finger pressing harder than needed because of my nervousness. My heart was pounding like crazy, so loud that I thought my parents might hear it too.

So many thoughts rushed in my head. If I said yes… how will everything go? If I said no… how will aunty react? I really don’t want to see her sad face. But I was so confused, like stuck between two roads with no direction. Suddenly, I felt my mother’s soft hand resting on my shoulder. I turned my head, she smiled at me like she was telling me “everything will be fine.”

The big door opened with a soft sound and there was Mrs. Min, smiling wide, welcoming us with so much warmth that my chest felt light for a moment. She looked so happy to see us. She greeted my parents first, then me, and led us inside their big living room.

The house was so beautiful, every corner decorated perfectly. Expensive furniture, shining chandelier above, big curtains hanging down, family portraits on the walls. But still, even with all that, the place didn’t feel cold. It felt homely. A comfortable vibe.

I sat on the sofa carefully, trying to sit in a way that showed I was proper. I was managing my posture too much like a robot maybe. "Jimin, be comfortable son," Min Uncle said kindly, and I quickly smiled, though it felt a little awkward. My smile didn’t even reach my eyes. Why was it feeling so awkward?

"Wow!! Mrs. Min, your house is so beautiful and well managed," my mother said while looking around with shining eyes, almost like she was exploring the whole place in one glance. My father smiled politely too, nodding along.

"Thank you," Min aunty replied, taking a seat near us, her smile not fading.

I didn’t know what to say. My tongue felt tied. I was busy staring at one point on the carpet when my mom suddenly asked the thing that was running in all of our minds.

"Where is Yoon?" she asked in such a casual tone.

I was lost in my own thoughts, but my attention snapped back the second I heard his name. The person they wanted me to marry.

"He is in his room… I’ll call him," Min aunty said with a slightly awkward smile, like she already knew what was waiting to happen.

"Jimin, why are you not talking?" Min aunty turned to me, her voice soft but curious.
