I groaned.
Guess who's back?
That bastard.
I thought had subdued the gremlin!
Again, apparently not.
I very apparently stole Mom's seat next to Dad on the couch to avoid  having to sit next to the bitch.
Plus It's not like Dad doesn't have two sides! I wasn't completely stealing him from Mom.
I mean, not too much.
We sat in the sitting room of the hotel, eating doughnuts and... Talking.
No let me scratch that, the adults were talking, not me, just them.
Well, I suppose I could go find the other kids, to be fair, Evan didn't look like he was going anywhere anytime soon soooooo...
I tugged on Dads sleeve.
He looked down at me. "Hmm?"
"I was wondering if I could go look for the other kids."
Dad nodded. "Yes, that's fine."
I thanked him and stood up as inconspicuously as I could, and boldly left the safety of my Fathers side.
I wandered the halls looking for... anyone actually.
I was passing the servants stairs when I heard singing.
Suddenly Angel and Huskers oldest daughter Molly came sliding down the railing.
Twelve year old Molly definitely channeled her Fathers love of drama and cute boys.
The girl realized that she was going to fast to stop and flew right off the end of the railing and onto the floor.
  "Ow!" She muttered.
  "Hey Mol." I said.
Molly's head snapped up. "Oh Lily, Hi... you saw that didn't you?"
I nodded. "I did, yes."
I was expecting her to be embarrassed, but she asked. "What'd you think?"
I gave her a slow clap. "Magnificent."
Molly punched the air. "Yes!"
Her pink and white hair was cut in a short bob that she often bedazzled with many bows and hair clips.
And she was TALL. (Unlike yours truly)
"Soo, what are you here for?" She asked.
I shrugged. "I was getting away from Evan and talking."
Molly nodded. "Well should we round up the others?"
I smiled. "Sure!"
And so we round up Nina, Peter, and Samantha.
                                        ~
I flopped face first onto my bed.
We had just gotten home, and I was exhausted.
We had played so many games I couldn't even remember all of them.
I rolled over and stared at my math book still in the garbage and sighed.
I heaved myself off the bed and grabbed it.
But before I could open it, I heard something.
I stood still, my ears twitching.
I slowly turned in a circle, eyes darting around.
I watched as a pebble bounced off my window.
Slowly and surely I made my way over to it.
When I saw Neo, I relaxed.
I opened the window.
My best friend tossed a rock from hand to hand. "You know Lily, I was sorta wondering if you had lost your hearing."
I propped my head on the window sill. "No, maybe you just need to throw bigger rocks." I told him.
Neo threw his hands in the air. "If I do that Ima break a window."
I smiled. "I know."
He raised an eyebrow. "You... want me to break a window?"
I shrugged.
Neo laughed and threw the rock back to the ground. "Hey you coming or not?"
I straightened. "I'm coming!" I backed up and... jumped out the window.
Like a gazelle,
or a reindeer,
or any kind of deer really.
I landed gracefully next to Neo, who shook his head. "It still amazes me to see you do that."
I cocked my head. "Do what?"
He nodded towards the window. "Jump like that."
I waved my hand. "It's nothing special."
"You just JUMPED from the third floor and you have a audacity to say that's nothing special!?"
I laughed. "Okay fine fine, it may be a little special."
Neo nodded matter-of-factly. "Yeah! Brag a little! Give yourself some Gratitude!"
He started walking. "You don't give yourself enough of that."
I blushed a little before following him.
"So... how's your life going?" I asked.
As we walked over a bridge, Neo jumped up onto the railing and kept walking. "Oh some old same old, Being scolded by Dad, homework, and generally wanting to slap every single one of Dad's associate's. How about you?"
I smiled. "Same, oh can you guess who we went to see today?"
Neo stared at me a little scared. "Well I would guess by the radio stuff happening right now, It was Evan?"
I blinked and realized that the air around me was crackling like a staticky radio.
I tucked a piece of hair back out of my face. "Yeah."
Neo nodded. "And guessing by your face, he was as pleasant as ever?"
I told him about my Evan interaction today.
By the end,  Neo's hands were clenched at his sides.
He hopped off the railing and grabbed me by the shoulders. "Can I please Kill him?"
I chuckled. "Actually I already kneed the crap out of him in unappreciable places." I told him.
Neo stared at me for a second before completely dying of laugher on the ground.
"THAT I would  have liked to see!"
He kept rolling around in fits laughter.
I looked at my best friend a little diferantally when he was like this.
Being the son of Vox, he was not appreciated by Dad, but he was so sweet, and so fun to talk to,
I was surprised when I met him because he was nothing like his Father, he loved talking about old things, and he was could generally could be found outside in the woods.
Okay fine, I'll stop blabbering.
Finally he got up and wiped tears out of his eyes.
"Ohhh, that's is hilarious" he said still chuckling.
I nodded. "It was until Dad got on me."
Neo tipped his head in sympathy. "Another talk about your non existent temper?"
"What do you mean? I have a temper." I said a little defensively.
Neo cocked an eyebrow. "You sure?"
I nodded. "Yeah I'm pretty sure."
He raised his hands in surrender. "Okay! Whatever you say!"
I nodded and we walked to a nearby park.
Neo ran in front of me and climbed the nearest tree.
Soon he was hanging upside down waving to me.
"Come on Lily! Come hang with me!"
I shook my head. "Yeah, um that's a no."
Neo leaned his elbow on an imaginary upside down table. "Why not my lady?"
Smiling, I pointed to my ears. "Deer's don't climb trees Neo."
My best friend wiggled his eyebrows. "But they could!" He said, holding out his hand.
I rolled my eyes but took his hand.
It amazed me how strong he was as he used one arm to pull me up and launch me onto the branch.
But as my butt landed on the branch, I also fell off the back.
As if made of lightning, Neo was there in an instant and grabbed my ankle, saving me from a four foot drop to the ground on my head.
I hung there upside down, completely unamused.
"You see Neo, this is why deer do not climb trees."
The blue haired boy tightened his grip on my leg. "He he, I mean not really, I just threw you a little too hard."
I crossed my arms.
I was very glad I had decided to wear leggings today, because my skirt was... not covering the right end of me.
"Neo, please pull me up." I said.
  "Working on it." He grumbled.
I was yanked again back onto the branch, but this time, Neo caught me.
He put his arms around me. "Okay, you good? Or do I need to keep you steady."
I smacked his hands. "I'm fine."
Neo nodded and planted his hands on the branch. "Okay! Just making sure!"
We sat side by side in silence for a minute.
  "Hey Neo?"
  "Yes Lily?"
"Thanks for saving my sorry ass."
Neo laughed. "Anytime sister, anytime."
I was proud to hold that title.
Because Neo had ADHD, and couldn't stay in one place for more than five seconds, he said, "Well let's keep walking."
He grabbed the branch and did this cool and little flippy thing out of the tree, and started walking away.
  "Um, Neo!" I called.
"Hmm?" He looked over his shoulder.
I winced. "Help."
Understanding dawned on his face and he doubled over laughing. "I-I treed a deer! Hah! You can't get down! You can't eve..." The rest of his words morphed into more laughing.
  "NEO!"
He wiped his eyes. "Okay okay sorry, I'll get you down."
Neo walked around the tree a couple times before looking back at me. "So, didn't think that through, um can't really get you down really easily sooo, you'll have to jump."
I gasped. "You want me to JUMP?"
The boy raised his hands in a shrug. "What's wrong with jumping? You literally jumped out of a window twice this height like, ten minutes ago."
I clung to the tree trunk. "This is deferent."
Neo looked beyond confused. "Why?"
I shook my head. "It just is."
My best friend tilted his head and sighed. "Okay, then... I'll catch you."
I tipped my head. "Can you even catch me?"
Neo sighed again. "I just flung you like, almost ten feet with one hand."
I laughed. "Oh right."
I very slowly stood up on the branch. Looking down I asked, "Hey um, just wondering if this is a good idea?"
Neo gave me a look. "Don't worry! I promise I'll catch you."
I nodded, closed my eyes.
And jumped.
I was weightless for seconds before landing in the safety of Neo's arms bridle style.
I opened my eyes and found him smiling down at me. "See? Told you I'd catch you."
We stared at each other a second before he said, "You know, your eyes look extra pretty today Lily."
I blinked. "Really?"
Neo nodded. "Yeah."
I smiled awkwardly. "Cool."
Neo quickly set me down and asked, "Sooo, what now?"
I shrugged. "Well I was thinking ice cream sounded pretty good."
Neo's face brightened. "Yes, that would be perfect."
He bowed all formally. "Well my fair lady, shall we go?" He asked in a serious voice holding his arm out.
I giggled. "Why yes my good fellow, we shall."
And arm in arm, we walked laughing back into town for some ice cream.

Not gonna lie, I really like writing scenes with Neo, but I also like portraying Alastor as a Father...
Should I balance their page time?
Do you like one more than the other?
