Taylor slowly climbed down the stairs to stand in front of me.
She poked me in the chest. "Hey, ah, sis? You still gotta breathe."
I sucked in a huge gulp of air. "I HAVE A SISTER?!"
Taylor's ears went back. "Little loud there, it's not that hard to believe."
Dad sighed. "Lily, maybe we should talk about this after you get cleaned up."
I glanced at myself, seeing all the blood and cuts. "Fine."
I sat on the bed, Taylor brushing out my hair.
"Girl, how much hair do you have?!" she shook her head.
I tucked my legs to my chest. "Um so, Taylor, where have you been all this time? How come I've never seen or known about you?"
Taylor rolled her eyes. "Oh just a little person called Dad."
I glanced back at her. "Did he make you leave?"
My sister burst into fits of laughter. "No no no! I left myself."
My ears went back. "Oh... why?"
Taylor grabbed the brush again. "Do you have a good relationship with him?"
Nodding I sighed. "I think so."
Taylor snorted. "That is a quality I don't own. He and I never, and I mean NEVER agreed. On anything."
She ground her teeth and static crackled around her. "He and I always had different ideas."
I shrank. "Oh..."
Taylor stalked to the window. "The last time we fought, I almost won. Almost killed the great Radio Demon, but they couldn't have that."
She punched the window, making it shatter. "Dad and his oh-so big ego! I would have won that fight! I would have won, and you know what?! I have gained a whole lot more power since then, but little old Dad wasn't ready to admit that his own daughter could beat him to a pulp." She snorted. "I would be able to tear him apart."
My ears were pinned back as I tucked myself into a smaller ball. "Taylor... maybe we shouldn't be thinking like that. I-I don't know, Dad's pretty powerful, I don't know if you could beat him..."
She spun around. "And then! They had the audacity to replace me with you." she gestured to me. "Which I don't hold you personally responsible for, your great." she stamped her foot. "BUT STILL!"
I winced. "What are your powers?"
Taylor ran her tongue along her teeth, propping her hands on her hips. "Basically everything he has but better."
I nodded slowly. "Ahha..."
To be honest, I thought she was slightly egotistical.
I looked at the ceiling. "Sooo, what's your opinion on Mom?"
Taylor sucked in air through her teeth. "Eh, she's fine. Always talked me through hard times, never tried to 'Put me in my place' as Dad always did."
I started to say that our place was where he said it was but Taylor stopped me. "No Lily, we are Altruists! Our place is at the top of the food chain! Not here! You just got kidnapped with literally zero effort used by the kidnapper. Is that where you want to be for the rest of your life?"
I lowered my head. "N-no. But that doesn't mean we have to be over Dad!"
Taylor rolled her eyes. "Lily, Dad is old. He's not going to be around forever. Soon he'll be dead and then who's going to save you?"
The thought of Dad being dead made my stomach do a hurtle. "D-dead?" I whispered.
Taylor leaned on the wall. "Yeah? But hey! You'll still have me! Plus you didn't think he'd be with you forever, right?"
I backed up slightly. "But... Hell is forever."
She tilted her head. "What?"
I squinted at her. "Hell is forever Taylor, you don't die unless you are killed!"
Taylor let out a breath, sighing. "Haven't you noticed? Even if he doesn't die, he's still getting weaker, he's getting soft, which is entirely your fault." she took a look at my face. "Hey! Don't feel bad, it's not like you asked to be here."
I looked down. "He's not getting soft Taylor, did you see the fire in his eyes earlier? He is not weak."
Taylor growled and started towards the door. "Fine, believe what you want, but don't blame me when you get hurt."
I watched her walk out of the room with a sigh.
She was... interesting.
Dad walked back through the door, wash cloth in hand. "Where did your sister go?"
I nodded to the hall. "I don't really know, she just left."
He sighed and sat down, holding out his hand.
I gave him my hand and he started gently cleaning up my wrist. "What did she tell you?"
I looked at the floor. "A lot of things..."
Dad pursed his lips and glared at the ceiling. "Lily... I need you to know, Taylor..." his words died off as he stared out the broken window. "I would have told you about her, she just-well-"
I cut him off. "Was troublesome?"
He chuckled humorlessly and bobbed his head. "I guess you could say that."
I stared at my arm, which was white by my elbow and faded to black by my hands.
The only thing disrupting the color pattern was the bloody stripe of raw skin that wrapped around my wrist.
Stupid Vox...
I hissed and winced when Dad touched a really raw part.
He just glanced at me with worry in his eyes. "Lily, what did he do to you?"
I stared at the bed. "He-" I stopped as tears blurred my vision. "He did so much, he did so many horrible-then Valentino-he gave me-" I had to stop talking.
I folded my ears down and tucked my head between my knees, everything suddenly stopped working.
All the horrors flashed in front of my eyes, and all the fear and pain came back.
Someone grabbed my hands.
I looked up and found my hands clasped in Dad's identical ones. "Lily your safe, you don't have to tell me if you do not want to. But know I am telling the truth when I say that Vox will never touch you again, nor Valentino. I will make them suffer ten times as much as they have made you, understand?"
A faint smile tugged at the side of my mouth. "O-okay."
What was Taylor saying about him being weak?
Alastor Altruist and my father was the strongest demon I knew, and he was going to kick someone's ass.
Weather it was Taylor or Vox, someone was going down.
Alastor's Pov
I kissed Lily goodnight and walked back down the stairs.
Rosie waited with her hands clasped in anticipation at the bottom. "So? How is she?"
I sighed and lazily set my chin on her shoulder. "Lily is... not doing good. Not bad, but not good."
Rosie winced. "How's it going with Taylor?"
I resisted the urge to slam my head into the wall. "Still spreading rumors as always."
My wife looked at me worriedly. "You do still love her... right?"
I waited a few seconds. "Yes, she just-"
"Yeah we all know that's a lie."
I turned to find my oldest daughter sprawled on the couch. "Excuse me?"
She rolled her eyes. "You heard what I said, or are your ears another thing to add to the list of not working, you can write it down right next to your heart."
Rosie's eyes went wide. "TAYLOR ALTRUIST! You-"
I held up a hand. "Rosie, don't."
Taylor threw her hands in the air. "Ooo! He finally realizes I'm right!"
I looked at the ceiling. "What did I do wrong with you? What ever happened to that little girl who would beg me to take her to the park? Who would sit on the counter and help me cook? Whatever became of her?"
Taylor sat up fast. "What became of her?! I grew up idiot! I realized where your loyalties really lied!"
I took a step forwards. "Taylor, do not test me, you are still my daughter-"
She snorted. "Yeah, then act like it."
I tried to calm myself down. "Taylor, I still care-"
She stood up. "No you don't! Don't lie to me! Your heart died with that little girl!"
Rosie gasped.
I tilted my head down, chuckling. "Girl, do not test me."
Taylor shrugged. "I'm just as powerful as you, whacha gonna do, Dad?"
Looking back up, the air crackled around me. "I don't want to hurt you, don't make me."
Taylor sucked in air through her teeth. "Then again, nobody's makin you do anything."
I closed my eyes, begging my demonic mode to stay off. "Taylor, what is your beef with me?"
She took an angry step forwards, her antlers growing and her eyes going black. "Beef? WITH YOU?! You motherfucking asshole! Do you know how much you ruined my whole life!? You never let yourself agree with me one time! You always pushed me away! You basically shoved me onto the street! Do you even know how many times, how many times I almost was misused by random guys on the street?! Or attacked just for being even REMOTELY REALATED TO YOU?! Oh but I learned, I learned that if nobody was going to care for me, I would care for nobody."
She ground her teeth, her ears going back. "You were always weak, never admitting that I was better."
"AND YOU!" She spun around and pointed a finger at Rosie. "You just stood there and let this happen! You always pretended to care when it was all a lie to make me happy! Well guess what? You are just as weak as him, not even being able to take care of your own child."
Something inside of me exploded.
She could insult me, once, twice, a million times, but she would not talk to Rosie like that.
I reached out and snatched Taylor's ear, twisting it and dragging her to me.
"You will not," I kicked her knees out. "Will not talk to your Mother that way, Do you understand me?! Never."
Taylor tried to get out, tired to use all powers she owned, but I deflected and dismissed every single one of them with ease.
A tear rolled down her cheek as I dug my finger into her ear. "You may insult me over and over and over, but you will not talk to her like that, I do not care how powerful you are, I do not care how many souls you own, You will treat your Mother with respect." I lowered my head to her ear. "Do you understand that?"
Taylor nodded painfully and I let go.
I pointed to Rosie who stood wide eyed in the corner. "If anyone here is weak, it is you. That woman is the strongest demon in all of hell, do you understand? She has gone through ten times more than anyone here."
I leaned over her. "You will treat her with the respect of a queen and nothing less."
"You are no where near being more powerful than me or her, and I think It's time someone put you in your place."
Taylor shrank, her blood red eyes staring into mine. "Y-yes Father."
I stood straight, brushing off my jacket. "Taylor, I love you all the way from the bottom of my heart. While it may not be in the best shape, it's still there, and every single part of it loves you, and I love you enough to make you listen."
I started towards the door.
Rosie held out a hand. "A-Alastor?"
I turned. "Hmm?"
"Where are you going?"
I smiled. "To go kill the men who tried to use my daughter,"
Taylor's head lowered.
I turned back to the door. "The first daughter."
