Neo's Pov
I walked down the street.
I had been kicked out.
I only mildly regretted telling my dad that I wouldn't be back, I hated him and all his stupid endeavors, but I did sleep at his house, that was a problem now that I could not go back.
I plopped down on a bench, the rain soaking me through the bone.
You might say that, It was dangerous to be out on the street in hell, and it was, but not really for me.
You see, being Vox's son, meant that no one would mess with me, without thinking twice about what might happen if Dad found out.
Closing my eyes, I let my mind wander.
Lily would be okay, she just had to be.
She would be.
I sighed and got up and kept walking.
I heard a car coming, so I moved to the inside of the sidewalk.
A hot pink and black limo pulled next to me.
The window slowly rolled down and my aunt Velvette stuck her head out. "Neo! What the fuck are you doing out here?! Your gonna catch a cold!"
She shook her head. "Get in the car."
I nodded and hopped in next to her.
She scooched away. "Your wet, dry yourself before you get cuddly."
I frowned and pulled a towel out of the store under the seat. "I'm not cuddly."
She shook her head. "Whatever, anyway, why the hell are you walking in the rain? AT NIGHT?!"
I shrugged. "I wasn't sure where to go, Dad kicked me out."
I didn't really like lying, but, my aunt would kick my ass if she knew I had just left.
Velvette growled. "Vox you dumb piece of shit," She looked at me. "Don't worry honey, I'll talk to him, in the mean time though, you are welcome to stay with me."

Even though it didn't show sometimes, my aunt really did care about me, more than my own father.
And if you get her in the right mood? She was super fun to be around.
A while later, we pulled into my aunts driveway.
She rummaged around her kitchen a while before tossing me a sandwich and grabbing a bottle of champagne out of the fridge.
Velvette didn't bother with a glass, she just popped the cork off and took a swig, scrolling through her phone and walking into the next room.
I sighed.
She was interesting, but at least I wasn't sleeping in the rain.

Alastor's Pov
I looked at the breakfast in front of me, I truly wanted to eat it, but I could not.
I sighed and sat back in my chair.
We sat in the entry/lounge of the hotel, Charlie had decided to set up a couple tables for each family to eat at, so ours was only Rosie and I.
Rosie slouched in her seat, stirring her cup of coffee with a spoon, mindlessly.
Despite her words last night, she was as worried as I was.
I could feel the others stair's in my back, I wanted to say something, anything really, but again, I just couldn't.
Behind me I heard Evan say to Charlie, "Mom, what's up with the Altruists? Their acting so... sober, also, where the fuck is Lily?"
I turned my head slightly in time to see Vaggie dig her finger into her son's shoulder.
He yelped. "OW! What? I was just asking! Why is it all hush hush?"
Charlie shook her head. "Evan! You can't just ask so blatantly! It's... a sensitive topic."
Evan stood up. "No, you won't dodge me again! What's going on? Where's Lily?"
Charlie chewed on her fingernails. "Well... um- so- uh..."
The boy planted his hands on the table. "What Mom? You got something to tell me?" he lowered himself to her eye level. "Where's Lily?"
I shoved myself to my feet and turned around. "That is none of your busyness," I let my shadow fall over him as I stood in front of the boy. "Her whereabouts do not concern you," I leaned down to him, our faces only being an inch apart. "Do you understand that?"
Terror overtook his eyes as he gulped. "I- um y-yes sir."
I straightened and tilted my head. "Good, now, I don't want to hear anymore about it."
Rosie watched me sit back down. "Wow, I mean, I was pretty sure you were going to drop kick him into next week."
I sighed. "Don't tempt me."
She shoved my plate back to me. "Don't starve yourself darling, I know it's hard, but you can't kill yourself for something that wasn't your fault."
I turned away from her. "Just watch me."
Rosie slammed her head onto the table. "AL!"
She grabbed my hands pulling me closer to her. "Listen, I am trying to keep you from hurting yourself, while trying to keep both my and your worry under control! This is not easy, and you freaking out and me wanting to hurt myself for not being there, every waking moment does NOT help Lily!"
I lowered my head. "I'm sorry my dear."
Rosie took a breath. "It's fine, we just need to keep everything under control."
At that moment Niffty came running down the stairs, gasping and out of breath.
"SIR, ALASTOR SIR!" she said with a salute in front of my chair.
I glanced around to everyone looking at us before putting my hands on her shoulders. "Niffty dear, quiet down, what?"
She took a deep breath and whispered. "Lily's awake."
...
What?
...
She's... awake?
The realization hit me and it took me a minute to react.
Before I knew it, I was running up the stairs taking the steps three at a time, Rosie right behind me.
I flung the door open and scanned the room.
My daughter stared back.
When Rosie appeared next to me, Lily smiled and held out her arms.
I stumbled to her, falling to my knees and wrapping my arms around her.
Rosie slowly crawled onto Lily's bed and hugged her.
I ran my hand through her hair. "You scared us my dear." I whispered.
"I'm sorry." she answered into my shoulder.
I hugged her tighter.
Rosie started crying. "Just don't do that again, understand?"
Lily nodded. "I won't, I promise."
Lily laughed a little. "Here, I'll get up." she gently nudged us.
I stood up, sniffing and wiping my eyes.
I was not going to cry today.
I was not going to cry today.
I was not going to cry today.
Lily was smiling until she tried to move.
Her eyes widened, terrified. "Wait..."
She planted her hands on the bed, and tried to push herself up.
Nothing.
Lily's breathing quickened and she looked at me. "Dad, I can't feel my legs, tell me this is supposed to happen."
I closed my eyes.
No...
"DAD! Tell me this is supposed to happen!"
The girl looked at her legs in horror. "No No NO!" She tried to move again and she started shaking.
Lily looked at me. "DAD TELL ME NOTHING'S WRONG, please!"  tears slipped down her cheeks.
I clenched my jaw, my heart tearing at her voice. I couldn't tell her, I was physics not able to.
Lily whipped around to Rosie. "Mom, what's happening, nothings wrong, right?"
My wife's silence spoke louder than words.
The tears started pouring. "No no no no no no no!"  My daughter was screaming and crying, and I couldn't just stand there.
I wrapped her up in my arms and let her cry and cry and cry.
She pulled away, staring at me with her midnight eyes. "This isn't permanent... right?"
When I didn't say anything, she grabbed my hand and squeezed it, hard. "Dad, please, I have never begged you for anything in my entire life, but please, tell me something, anything, just talk to me... please."
I stiffened.
Lily dropped her head, her tears falling onto the blanket.
I lightly grabbed her chin. "Lily... you will get through thi- No, we'll get through this, together, okay? You won't be alone, not ever. This whole thing is only temporary, nothing is permanent if you really try."
Lily looked at me with her watery eyes, a faint smile tugging at her lips.
She threw her arms around me and buried her face in my  chest. "Thank you." she whispered, her voice being muffled my my coat.
I looked up at Rosie, who gave me a smile and a thumbs up.
Yeah that's helpful.
I smiled and closed my eyes, combing my fingers through my daughters hair.
She was okay,
A little battered,
A little broken,
But Okay.
