05: THE "MARY" INCIDENT

Let's rewind a few months, instead of reading a bunch of caps words documenting it. Let's swap pov's and embrace it ourselves shall we?

                                  Scarlett's Pov:

I sigh to myself, it was yet another slow going day. Nothing too important happening. Phoenix did tell me we were starting new hires again, since the seasonal workers were either fired or hired completely. I believe one of them was for our janitor position under Jake. That fuckin doofus, drinking himself half to death most days and then making more of a mess to clean.

But I guess if the bosses won't fire him because Phoenix has a firm grip on him for some reason. Then oh well to that. I figure I'll take a visit to him and see the new workers, who knows maybe I'll find a cutie among the stock. Winter was so dull to look at, especially with them mostly being ugly as shit.

I stand out of my chair, stretching myself and then head to my office door. Opening it, I see Mary pass by me. I immediately smile seeing my fellow sister in arms. She smiles back warmly at me, "Hey scar scar!" She says in her slight Russian accent. She throws her arms around me, embracing me and I do the same.

We hug for a moment and then let each other go, looking at the other. "So what are you doing today hun?" I ask her and she giggles. "I heard we got new workers, so I wanted to take a look!" I cross my arms smirking. "I was actually going to do the same, wanna go together?" I ask and she nods quickly.

We head to the main elevator, hoping we've got some good lookers and good workers this time. Walking inside of the elevator for once it's empty. Normally we have tourists or other heroes occupying it, but they tend to land on our helipad via flying themselves.

We chit chat about random things, normally after work activities. A *Ding* echoes and the doors open. We exit and start to head towards Jake's office. Normally Phoenix drops the janitor here and has the others separated whenever they work under.

Reaching his door, I knock three times. A voice comes from the other side, "Come in." Surprising me, normally he slurs his words or is unresponsive. I open the door and see Jake at his desk, with a REALLY handsome man sitting in the chair across from him. He turns to look at us, and I feel my heart soar into the skies.

Chiseled jawline, blonde hair, sky blue eyes you can get lost in, a semi toned body that screams "Massage me..." and a nose you could plant kisses on all day. Holy shit we hit the lottery with this one! I feel my face burn up a bit, and glance over at Mary to hide it.

Her face is burning up too, but her eyes scream something else. Absolute. desire. Something I haven't seen from her at all. She flutters her eyes and smiles at our newcomer. "Well hello Jake and, what is your name hun?" She asks him, causing Jake to smirk and the newcomer to smile warmly back at her.

"My name is Kayne, Ms. Mary. I look forward to working here with you! Oh, and you too Ms. Scarlett! My little sister absolutely ADORES you!" He says with a buttery heavenly voice that echoes in my head. His sister adores me?? I'll be sure to give him some, bonus merchandise to show off to her..

Mary giggles at him, "Oh please, you don't need to call me Miss. I'm not your boss silly!" She replies and he chuckles a bit. I glance back  at her, seeing the same look as before. I glance off to the floor a bit crestfallen, sure he's a hottie but Mary rarely ever gets like this. I'll let her not have competition, it's my duty as a sister in arms for her.

I nod at Jake, stating "I'll go judge the other recruits. Kayne, if your first day goes well I'll give you something to take home for your sister okay?" I ask and he nods at me. Looking back at Mary, guess it's a match made in heaven. Good for her, she's been a bit sad after leaving her homeland so it's nice to see things looking up for her.
