                                 Current day
                                  (Y/N) POV:

This was. Something else entirely. Holy shit. Holy fucking shit. That explains the news a few months ago about the 'incident' here. Causing there to be no new applicants for months. No one knew what happened only speculation, but now I do. A psychopathic hero loses her mind over love. Thank god I'm not some 'gigachad' looking dude, I'm barely a 7 in good light. So I hope that's enough.

I dared to not even look at the other photo, reading the police report was all I needed to envision it. I succeeded in not puking all over the place. But dread still filled me to the core. I glance up at Scarlett, and she can't meet my gaze.

Jake coughs into his hand, and breaks the ice. "So with the document signed, we are able to go forward." He says losing his Scottish accent. Scarlett looks back and nods solemnly, finally meeting my gaze. "I am truly sorry (Y/N) for, the events that occurred. We will do everything in our power to ensure that will never happen again, and you will be safe. I personally guarantee it." She states.

One hero already lost her shit over a dude, and now you think you being a hero will prevent that? Everyone knows Mary as the kindest hero, being the first to jump into anything and start healing those injured. Even taking the time to visit those in hospitals or check up on the recovery's.

Then she did that.

It could happen to me.

But I'm trapped by this Fucking contract.

They lied to me.

I close my eyes and lightly push my fingers into them rubbing softly. They even covered it up from the public, what happened to Kayne's family? His husband? Did they offer anything as payment? God I could only imagine how fucked up they all must be. Could that happen to me and my family??

goddamnit.

I slightly glare, opening my eyes. Sigh, and then shake it off looking back up at the two. It's still quiet after Scarlett's statement. I'm sure they noticed my inner turmoil. But no point crying about it, my name is on their document to either be left go or memory wiped. Wait, memory wiped??

oh my Fucking god. No wonder no one tried to speak up about it from their families. they wiped them. They fucking WIPED this from their minds, probably pretending it never even happened. But why tell me? Why make it evident it at all? So many goddamn questions wracking my head.

Finally Scarlett clears her throat. "Alright gentlemen, now that we have that out of the way we can focus on the actual request. Today it seems our fellow hero Stardust has finally decided on joining our ranks. However an accident occurred when she was coming in, so we'll need you two to clean it. I'll show you the way." She says standing up heading to the office door.

I glance at Jake. His normally happy carefree face is fallen, refusing to meet my glance. I didn't even consider how he could've felt, some new kid comes in being your apprentice and then THAT happens to him. Having to know you could never apologize to him, to his family, to his husband. Just stay silent, or be wiped.

I've made my vow. They can trick me into being forced into a memory wipe or working for them, so I'll work. If this is just the opening ceremony to their true deeds then someone has to note this down, and hopefully bring this shit to light. They deserve to know.

or do they? if the public knows and brings them down, what's stopping the heroes from fully going batshit reigning absolute hell upon us? no one to protect us from them anymore. Funny how that works, supposed to protect us from threats yet they're even worse.
