Ian and Advika moved cautiously through the dimly lit streets, their senses on high alert. Every sound, every movement, seemed amplified in the eerie silence of the deserted city. As they walked, they couldn't help but feel a creeping sense of dread, as if something sinister was lurking in the shadows, just waiting to pounce.

Advika's mind raced with all sorts of wild ideas - what if the aliens had already entered their world, disguised as ordinary humans, their true intentions hidden behind a veil of normalcy? The thought sent chills down her spine, and she glanced nervously over her shoulder, half-expecting to see a pair of glowing eyes watching them from the darkness.

The eerie silence was only broken by the occasional rustling of leaves and the distant howling of a lone wolf. Ian and Advika quickened their pace, feeling the weight of the unknown bearing down on them. Every corner they turned and every alley they passed felt like a potential trap, ready to spring at any moment.

As they finally reached Ian's place, they breathed a sigh of relief, but the fear lingered in their minds. What if the aliens were already among them, hiding in plain sight, waiting to strike? The thought chilled them to the bone, leaving them with a deep sense of unease that refused to disperse.

Advika stood in awe as she stepped into Ian's apartment. The space was massive and modern, with high ceilings and sleek furnishings that oozed an air of refinement. The walls were painted in soft, neutral colours, which gave the room a warm and inviting feel. The living area was open-plan, with a large L-shaped couch that faced a huge flat-screen TV. The kitchen was fully equipped with state-of-the-art appliances, and the countertops gleamed under the soft lighting.

As she walked further into the apartment, Aashana noticed a hallway that led to the bedrooms. She followed it and found herself in a spacious master bedroom, with a king-sized bed in the centre of the room. The windows were draped with sheer white curtains that allowed the natural light to filter in, casting a soft glow on the room.

The en-suite bathroom was equally impressive, with a large bathtub and a walk-in shower that was big enough to fit three people. Advika couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy as she imagined herself living in such a luxurious space.

Ian noticed her awestruck expression and chuckled, "Impressed?" he asked.

Advika nodded, still taking in the grandness of the place, "This is amazing," she said. "I had no idea apartments could be this spacious."

Ian smiled, "I picked this place because I wanted it to be comfortable and stylish."

With a sheepish grin, she looked at him and nodded politely, her curiosity aroused by how he could afford everything on his own, but she was hesitant to ask such a blunt question. She quietly padded across the room to the plush sofa in the living room, hugging her bag close to her chest as she took in her surroundings.

The room was tastefully decorated with a mix of modern and vintage furniture, and the soft glow of the lamps gave the space a warm and inviting atmosphere. She couldn't help but feel a little envious of his luxurious lifestyle, but at the same time, she was grateful for the invitation to his home.

He broke the silence between them and said, "You don't have to worry about any interruptions from family members or roommates. Since I live alone, you can feel free to make yourself comfortable."

"Are you sure you're okay with me crashing here tonight?" Advika asked, looking taken aback.

"You'd rather risk getting eaten by those aliens out there in the cold?" Ian replied with a smirk.

Advika detected a hint of mockery in his tone, but she realized that she had brought it upon herself. Hence, she decided to overlook his comment for the time being.

After settling in for the night, Advika woke up to a strange noise coming from outside. She sat up in bed and listened intently, trying to identify the source of the sound. Suddenly, the noise stopped. Advika got out of bed to take a closer look. She walked over to the window and peered outside. It was pitch black, and she couldn't see anything. She strained her ears, but there was no sound.

As Advika stood by the window, her gaze fixed on the sprawling cityscape beyond, her attention was suddenly drawn to a faint flicker of light in the distance. It seemed to be originating from a construction nearby, although she couldn't quite make out its exact shape or form. Despite her initial hesitation, her curiosity got the better of her and she found herself drawn towards the source of the mysterious light.

The moment her eyes caught sight of the unsettling scene before her, a sudden jolt of fear coursed through her veins, causing her heart to race uncontrollably. Just as she was about to turn away, a hand shot out from behind her and covered her eyes, pulling her in closer towards them. It was Ian, who had quickly anticipated her reaction and shielded her from the gruesome sight outside. His palm gently covered her eyes, blocking out the heart-wrenching scene and allowing her to take a deep breath, calming her nerves. With a steady hand, Ian slowly closed the window, shielding her from any further distressing images.

Ian got up from the bed and spoke slowly, "We need to leave soon. We can't stay here any longer."

Advika grabbed his hand and halted him, "Hold on, Ian. Why do you want to help me when you could be faster alone?" She gazed into Ian's eyes, seeking an answer.

Ian was taken aback by Advika's question. He paused, unsure of how to respond. As he gazed into her eyes, he leaned in to give her a soft kiss on the lips. Although it was just a brief peck, Ian sensed that Advika was receptive to it, as she didn't pull away. Advika's heart skipped a beat as she felt Ian's lips touch hers. She felt a sense of security being around him and took the kiss as Ian's answer to her question that night.
