The queen's words echoed in his mind like a haunting refrain, "You are the bridge to redemption."
He had sought Aadvika out, consumed by desperation for answers. Her eyes resembled polished black stones, holding ancient secrets that seemed to whisper to his soul. Her mysterious figure was both a blessing and a burden, casting a mesmerizing yet heavy presence that left him yearning for understanding.
Ian's history was like a complex puzzle, with a twisted journey of half-truths and hidden motives that seemed to intertwine with every step he took. But redemption? That word held a promise he couldn't ignore. It whispered hope into the depths of his soul and cast a flicker of light upon the shadows of his past. Amid the uncertainty, it became his guiding star, igniting a fire of determination within him.
Silva's fingers clenched, his heart aching with the memory of Magie—the woman he'd loved, the one he'd lost. Her death had ignited something within him, a fire fueled by grief and rage. It consumed him, the desire for revenge burning fiercely in his soul. But now, the queen's words offered a glimmer of hope, a chance for a different purpose, and an opportunity to channel his tumultuous emotions towards something greater.
Silva, the unassuming one, scratched his head, feeling a sense of bewildered frustration. His simple mind grappled with the queen's riddles, leaving him feeling both anxious and determined to unravel their mysteries.
Meanwhile, Ruby paced restlessly in the vicinity, her vibrant crimson hair creating a vivid contrast against the softly illuminated moonlit stones. Her countenance was marked by a palpable air of suspicion, etching an intense expression across her features."Why riddles? Why not just tell us?" Silva asked curiously.
"Because riddles are like veils, layers to be unravelled. You seek revenge, Silva, but revenge is a hungry beast. It devours all, leaving ashes," Ian replied.
Silva clenched his fists. He couldn't shake Magie's face from his mind – the sound of her laughter echoing in their hideout, the sparkle in her eyes before the alien killed her.
"I'll kill every last one of 'em. For Magie," Silva's voice echoed in anger.
"Justice or vengeance? Choose wisely, for they are not the same," Ian spoke wisely.
Beneath the moon's vigilant eye, they were positioned - a bridge, an unpredictable factor, a modest individual, and a queen with her selfish cosmic plan. Ian's resolve hardened. He would find Aadvika, unravel the queen's secrets, and save her from this malevolent force. He was destined for revenge or redemption, and his course was fixed.
Every step forward was fueled by a mix of determination and desperation, a swirling storm of emotions that drove him further on his quest. The weight of the mission pressed heavily on his shoulders, but his heart burned with fiery hope and unwavering resolve.
Ruby approached Ian who was leading the way and walked beside him, following his pace.
"Can Aadvika be trusted?" Ruby asked Ian as she looked at him while walking.
Ian's heart sank as he faced Ruby and Silva's questioning gazes. He knew that no matter what he said, they would still harbour doubts about Aadvika. The weight of their disbelief felt heavy on his shoulders, and he wished he could ease their concerns, but he knew it was an impossible task.
"We need to keep our focus on the mission," Ian mentioned nonchalantly, giving a slight nod.
"Why not address Ruby's question first, Ian?" Silva urged pointedly. "Or do you have something to hide?" Silva persisted in provoking Ian.
Ian felt a surge of frustration welling up inside him as he took a deep, exasperated breath and closed his eyes. He could sense Silva's relentless pressure to push him to the brink, to force out the truth and lay bare the facts about Aadvika. The weight of the situation felt suffocating, and Ian struggled to contain the swirl of emotions brewing within him.
"Do you really want to hear about Aadvika, or are you just looking to eliminate every single alien that has ruined your life?" Ian asked Silva, raising his eyebrows curiously.
Silva went silent, his jaw clenched in anger, as curses escaped under his breath. For the second time, Ian was right, and all Silva wanted was for the aliens to perish. He yearned for justice for Maggie's sudden death, consumed by a burning desire for vengeance.
Ruby's suspicion grew. She watched Ian, her crimson hair a flame against the night. Ruby had lost too much—trust was a fragile thread. She whispered to Silva, who scratched his head, still grappling with the queen's cryptic words.
"Silva, do you trust him?" Ruby asked Silva doubting Ian's trustworthiness.
"Trust? If possible, I would have ended his life a long time ago." Silva smirked with anger.
The necklace in Ian's hand began to glow with a radiant light, casting a shimmering brilliance around him. Bewildered by the sudden luminosity, Ian's confusion gave way to anticipation, only for the radiance to vanish as swiftly as it had appeared. A surge of adrenaline coursed through Ian as he felt his pulse quicken in response to the mysterious event.
Ruby's attention was drawn to the sudden brightness of the necklace, but she held back, waiting for Ian's reaction. Disappointingly, Ian did not acknowledge the change. This lack of concern shattered the trust that Ruby had in Ian, leading her to believe that he had his own ulterior motives that could potentially endanger both Ruby and Silva. It seemed to Ruby that Ian would not hesitate to betray them to protect himself and Aadvika from the queen alien.
