Maelyn's POV
When everyone thinks of Thanksgiving, they think of turkey, stuffing, and pumpkin pie with your loved ones. The ones you're grateful for. Some have a Friendsgiving which is exactly what the name says but I had neither. What I was feeling was sad, alone, and happiness when I have a pint of my favorite ice cream while watching my movies series. Flynn and I were supposed to have a day to ourselves because Catalina went home to Argentina, Liam went to Vietnam, and Celeste went to Haiti. I was stuck in Miami fucking Florida in spandex and a baggy shirt with messy bun. Flynn had some work stuff to do so he couldn't come, and I was bored for the first time. I wanted to go out and have a dinner or do something fun, but I didn't like going anywhere by myself unless it was work. I decided to post on Instagram a cute mirror picture despite my appearance. I turned on the flash and stuck out my middle finger. I snapped the photo and then slapped an emoji on my hand. I typed a caption.
"Thanksgiving spent with ice cream and movies." I said as I typed. I posted it on my story before moving my coffee table against the wall to make the sofa into a bed. I got it set up with my extra bed set and got all my snacks placed on the bed before turning my led light lamp on since the room was dark. I dimmed the lights to my liking before smiling and nodding at the setup. After I finished a movie, I heard a knock at my door. I looked at the time and was confused.
"Who could that be? Flynn is at work." I got up after setting my snacks to the side. I opened the door and I was frozen staring at them. I looked in their hands and they had food and drinks. I got a whiff of the food and it was my favorite restaurant. It was an authentic Italian food which reminded me of my childhood. I knew that food and I was confused on how they knew what restaurant was my favorite and how they knew I was alone on this holiday. I didn't move and I didn't realize I held a breath until I talked.
"W-what are you guys doing here?" I stuttered but my voice came out soft verses irritated like when Greyson randomly called me to meet him at the cafe. I was still confused on why they wanted information on Mateo. I know Bennett was worried for me, so he kept silent to make sure I was okay even though he knew the answer. My friends came over after the cafe because I lied to Bennett and Greyson about going to work. I was going out with my friends before seeing them off at the airport. They were worried if I ate something bad or if something happened at the potluck, but I didn't have the guts to tell them that I was assaulted. How do you bring that up around thanksgiving? You don't. I am grateful for my friends and will always be because they became my second family. We all clicked, and we were bound to be forever friends and family.
"We are spending Thanksgiving with you." Bennett spoke but that still confused me. They were still standing out in the hall and I panicked because of students and I let them in. They walked through and I closed the door.
"Why? You should be spending it with family."
"We don't have any." Greyson spoke and that made my heart stop. I sucked in a breath at the words because I wasn't expecting someone else to be going through the same thing I was going through. No family and no one to spend Thanksgiving with.
"I-I'm sorry." I looked down feeling kind of embarrassed that I would say such a thing.
"You didn't know so don't feel that way." Bennett spoke. My eyes widened at his words.
He knew what I was thinking?
I took a breath before leaving to the kitchen while turning on the light and taking out plates.
"Well, make yourself comfortable. I was just watching movies and had snacks but I'll clear the bed so you guys can sit." I talked as I grabbed silverware and glasses to have the wine that Bennett had in his hand. I set it on the counter and turned to see a bouquet of flowers in Bennett's hands. I gasped at the bouquet as he handed it to me.
