I stared at myself in the mirror and took a deep breath. I was taking in my appearance. My long black hair that was straight and sharp features. I had hazel eyes and thin almond shaped causing some people to be scared of me saying I have siren eyes. My face frame was heart shaped making my jaws a bit more defined and sharper. I had a sharp button nose and round lips. Light freckles lined my nose to cheeks. The bags under my eyes are very noticeable because of my daily nightmares playing on repeat so I'm forced to put makeup on and fake my smiling.

"You got this, Maelyn." I gave myself a pep talk in my dorm room. It felt nice to have a dorm to myself and no roommates. My college principal was an old friend of my family, so he let me have a dorm to myself even though others were ahead of me. He pulled some strings for me and I'm grateful for it. I took a sip of my water before looking at my outfit this time.

I wore a dark green, long sleeved, sweater shirt that fit my hourglass shape. Black jeans that were bootleg at the bottom with my white Nikes. I had a few gold rings on and a few small gold hoops. I had small almond shaped acrylics done that were black French tips.

I was the most grateful for my clear skin, so I didn't need much makeup. My makeup was always natural to where you couldn't really tell I wore makeup. I grabbed my tote bag and hoped today would go well. I stepped out and locked up my dorm. I walked out the female dorm building. Yes, female dorm building but certain females still sneak men into the dorms and not very sneaky. I guess that's what happens when you go to the University of Miami. Miami is filled with the party night life for everyone. Miami is a well-known place for tourists, and it is quite exhausting. Miami may be a happy and fun place to live in but for females, it wasn't safe. I always carried a pocketknife or taser on me 24/7. I also took self-defense the beginning of high school for certain purposes but mainly to defend myself against someone.

I walked into the main building while looking at my phone and passed by someone, but I knew that scent from anywhere and I paused before I turned to look at the person. That back and tattoos. He wore a black shirt, but it was like a compression shirt. He is buff and his arms were big, and I blushed at the sight. He walked like he owned the world, and it was hot.

"God really had favorites." I mumbled before walking away and walked into my Italian class. I'm half Italian so I decided to take the class since my parents never taught me Italian as a kid. I sat in the middle and played with my necklace while getting out my notebook and writing utensils.

"Mae!" Someone slid in the seat and hugged me. I groaned because I was unfocused of my surrounding to not notice my best friend.

"Hey Cat." I spoke. She backed up and looked at me.

"Nightmares?" I hummed.

"Girl, what nightmares are you having for you to constantly be like this?"

"I never remember and it's scary that I can never remember no matter how hard I try." I looked at her and I felt bad.

I'm sorry I keep having to lie to you.

Catalina Santos, my best friend since 8th grade. She was beautiful and had the boys lined up but always refused them not wanting to deal with boy drama. I didn't even want to deal with boy drama but here I am having the fattest crush on the "bad boy" in our school. Catalina is from Argentina before moving to Miami in 5th grade. She had long brown hair and very light thin bangs and was similar in features as me, but she had innocent doe eyes so everyone who doesn't know her approaches her no problem and I wish I was back to that. She wore a white tube top and a black shirt and sneakers. Everyone loved her Spanish even though it was a common language. The way she spoke in Spanish put you in a trace because her voice was soft but like a dangerous soft with a hint of deepness in her voice. She was a very sassy person, and it was one of the things I loved about her. She had a very good heart, and all the teachers loved it. She is a business major. Students started coming in and I see my crush.
