screams filled me. people started making their way over. i then felt it, it came out in the surface. it looked me dead in the eyes and swam off, leaving me without a leg.

the salt water got into my wound and it made me scream again. the person that helped me, got me onto their board.

"don't look down." they told me. i looked down and my leg was gone, bleeding profusely. once we got past the deep end, the lifeguards were on the beach with paramedics.

i was too out of it to notice.

"is there anyone we can call?" the paramedic asked. "bag." i told them. they handed me the bag and i called the first person who was on my caller's list.

ashton's voice came into the scene and i put it on speaker phone.

"aviana?" he asked. i was just sobbing, and i gave my phone to the paramedic, telling him that it was my uncle.

he started speaking and ashton was nodding his head along to everything. after they spoke, the phone came back to me, and i was lifted on the gurney.

"aviana! you're going to be okay, luke's going to meet you at the hospital. alright?" i hung up, meaning i understood.

she sat in the emergency room, and was called back to emergency surgery to help the blood and her leg together.

luke ran in at the last second, coming to her immediately. "angel?! you're going to be okay, i'm here!" "it hurts luke!" i cried.

"i know angel, it's alright, but i'm here." he shushed me, gently rubbing my knuckles.

"sir, you have to let her go."

luke looked stunned.

"surgery is needed." the nurse said.

surgery was done, and she was laying in the bed, she was not sleeping. she was awake during the whole procedure. tears glazed her eyes, and she just sat there.

"luke?" her voice came.

"angel. it's okay, i'm here. are you alright?"

"i lost a leg, how can that be okay! i shouldn't have even gone to the beach, just stayed in." she quietly said.

"you can't slow down or speed up time."

"is my dad coming?"

"he's out with cal, do you want to call him?"

"sure."

luke gave her, his phone. she clicked on her dad's contact, and called him.

"hey luke. what's up?"

"dad?"

"aviana, honey, why are you using luke's phone?"

"michael, you need to get to the hospital immediately, something happened."

"what happened?" worry lacing his voice.

"shark attack."

those two words, struck fear in michael's soul.
