Angel woke up three separate times but had such a splitting headache each time. But his fourth shot, his eyes were finally fully open. He just couldn't quite move. Everything either hurt or felt numb and asleep. "Hmmm?" He mumbled.
"Oh, Angel," a voice says. Angel weakly turned his body to face Husk who stood beside his bed.
"Huh??" Angel sputtered out. "Husk..?"
"Yeah.." Husk awkwardly responds. "How are ya feeling, kiddo?"
Angel groaned as he shut his eyes again. "Like shit," he complains. His eyes widened again as reality hit him. "Wait, how did I get here?"
Husk sighs. "You've got one hell of a friend. She had to save your drunk ass at the bar and carry you to the hotel." Husk hesitated before he locked eyes with Angel. "Kid... what happened to you? You were bruised up and bleeding."
Angel felt a pang of guilt as he realized Husk knew. Shit, he thinks. "It was just from the shoot," Angel explains, desperately. "Nothing serious-"
"Angel!" Husk snaps. "Enough with the lies!"
Angel shielded himself with his four arms, feeling tears peering from the corners of his eyes, threatening to spill at any minute. His heart was racing, his eyes shut tight. "I'm sorry!" Angel sobbed.
Husk softened up as he realized what he'd done. "Shit," he mutters. "Angel, baby, I.. I didn't mean to yell."
"I didn't mean to yell, Amrocito, you just make me so crazy sometimes." Val would say.
Angel slowly opened his eyes, facing Husk with tears running down his face. "Husk... what time is it?"
Husk took a peek at the his phone, before answering, "Uh, 8:30."
Angel's eyes widened as he jumped to his feet, screaming "Oh shit!" The second he stood, he collapsed as Husk caught him.
"Whoa! Easy now!" Husk tries. "You're hurt, Angel."
"B-b-but I'll be late!" Angel sobs, grabbing his bag and rummaging through his stuff.
"You can't go!" Husk insists, trying to help Angel up but he just lightly pushed Husk back.
"You don't get it!" Angel cries. "He's going to..." he pauses, covering his mouth with his hand, as if he'd be struck the second he uncovered the truth. But he didn't need to say a word. Husk understood. Angel just broke down into a crying mess. His breathing was ragged as the boy gasped for air every few seconds, just sobbing more and more.
"Oh baby," Husk whispers as he was took Angel's hand, squeezing it firm and tight. "I need you to breathe."
"I- I- I- c-c-can-ca-"
"Yes you can, baby," Husk whispers, calmly, taking one hand and brushing a tear off Angel. "You can always cry and get everything out, but please regulate your breathing, love."
Angel could barely hear the cat demon. He was so focused on not hyperventilating, he gripped his neck tightly to cut off all breathing in general. The spider gasped for air but it was working.
"No, Nono," Husk gently says, lowering Angel's hand down. "Breathe." Angel looked at him, still struggling. "Come, with me. In..." They both took a breath in, but Angel's was corse and messy. "Out." It smoothed out, but was still not good. "In... out. In... out."
Husk held Angel's hand tight as he finally breathed normally. "Good." Husk smiles. Angel, seeming unready to talk about what just happened, continued to look at his bag before he started putting stuff in. "Angel, you can't go back to work. You've gotta tell your boss that you're hurt and can't come."
"I can't do that..."
"Then I will."
Angel shakes his head. "Ch-Chah-ly tried that a while back... it made things worse..."
Husk nods. "Baby I'm so truly sorry." His heart hurt for the spider demon. He related a bit with his own situation, however Alastor would never do all this.
Angel shrugged. "It's okay, Husk."
"Baby, look at me." Husk cupped his face, locking eyes with the boy. Angel was crying still, but managed to look him in the eye. "I'm going to free you from that monster. You understand me?"
"You can't."
"I will figure it out," Husk promises.
Angel sighs as he nods, not truly believing him but deciding to let it go.
"How are you feeling?" Husk asks, as Angel's breathing regulated to normal speed.
"Like shit, still," Angel confirms. "But..." he took a deep breath. "Thanks... for caring."
Husk nods. "Of course." He paused as he watched Angel start to walk. "You walk to work, don't you?"
"Yeah," Angel says, sheepishly. "Not quite sure how it'll work out today, but... yeah."
"Ever try flying?"
