"So how are you guys planning on training me?" Evelyn asked.
"You will face a series of opponents who you will have to fight and try your hardest to defeat." Asmodeus said.
"So I won't be fighting against you guys?" Evelyn asked.
Belphegor snorted. "Of course not. I would rather not be ripped apart limb by limb by Asmodeus for harming a single strand of hair on your pretty little head." He said.
"Then who am I going to fight against?" Evelyn asked. "You said we came here for privacy, wouldn't having people come here defeat that purpose?"
"I'll Belphegor explain how, or better yet demonstrate." Asmodeus said, backing away and pulling Evelyn along with him. "Belphegor." He said, indicating for him to proceed.
Belphegor nodded and looked out towards the expanse of earth that made up the center of the colosseum with a look of great concentration on his face. After a moment of silence the ground began to roll and buck beneath Evelyn's feet and Belphegor raised his hand as if lifting an object of great weight.
"What's going on?" Evelyn asked.
"Belphegor is procuring some opponents for you." Asmodeus said, standing remarkably steady on the shifting ground beneath his feet.
"I don't understand. How will this get me some opponents to fight?" Evelyn asked, struggling to stay upright.
"In Hell there are few people who are able to exert some control over an element. In fact in all of Hell there are only four people known to be able to do it." Asmodeus said, stepping closer to Evelyn and grabbing a hold of her arm to prevent her from falling. "Those people are Satan, Lucifer, Belphegor and me. Belphegor has power over earth, Satan has power over fire, and Lucifer has control over water."
"What element do you have control over?" Evelyn asked as she clenched her hand onto Asmodeus arm for balance.
"Air." Asmodeus said.
"This information is interesting and all but I still don't understand how-." Evelyn started to say but cut herself off as she saw what appeared to be a hand raise up from out of the dirt. Evelyn watched, wide-eyed, as humanoid forms made up of earth rose up from out of the ground. When they had fully emerged out of the ground Evelyn could see that they each carried a weapon, a sword or a staff, made from the same material they were.
"What are they?" Evelyn asked, looking around at the dozen or so humanoid beings atanding perfectly still.
"Golem." Asmodeus said.
"Huh? What's that?" Evelyn asked.
"A golem is a being created entirely from inanimate matter, in this case earth. And these golems are entirely under their creator's control." Asmodeus said.
"That they are." Belphegor said, walking over to them, looking a bit tired but otherwise non the worse for the spectacular bit of magic he just preformed. "Are you ready to start your training?"
"Not really." Evelyn said.
"Too bad." Belphegor said. "Go out there and fight."
Evelyn threw a dirty look over a shoulder at his grinning face. When she turned back around she took a deep breath and unsheathed the tantō knife. Handing the scabbard to Asmodeus Evelyn took cautious steps towards the golem closest to her.
As she moved closer to golem it made no movement to suggest that it sensed her presence. So, taking another deep breath, she gripped her knife tighter and ran towards the golem.
In a move that was too fast for her to dodge the golem swept her feet out from under her, sending her falling. Before she had even landed the golem had returned to its previous stance, standing at attention.
