"I have gotten another report from the town that is being attacked. The situation is deteriorating rapidly. The fighting has eve spread to the next town. What should be done?" Satan said, finishing his report with a question.
"How did it get bad so far?" Belphegor asked
Lucifer shrugged. "We have no idea. Our best guess is that we underestimated the size and intelligence of the enemy force."
"The hows and whys can wait. Right now we need to figure how best to stop the fighting. Any suggestions?" Satan asked again
"How about we send twice as much men in?" Leviathan asked.
"I don't think the town would be able to fit that much people." Mammon stated, dryly.
"I don't see you making any suggestions Mammon." Leviathan retorted.
Mammon held up his hands in a gesture of surrender. "No need to get angry. I was merely making an observation."
Leviathan ignored him.
"Beelzebub, do you have any ideas you want to share with us?" Belphegor asked.
"None what so ever." Beelzebub replied.
Evelyn turned away from the discussion, that looked like it was quickly desending into an argument, to see Asmodeus looking at what was going on with an expression that said he was very close to dissolving into fits of laughter.
"Don't you have anything to say?" She asked him.
"No, not really." He replied. "Besides I'm pretty sure they're about to reach a consensus." He added with suppressed laughter clear in his voice.
"Uh-huh." Evelyn said skeptically, as she turned around in time to hear Leviathan say that they wouldn't know a good plan even if it bit them in the ass. "They probably would reach a consensus faster if you made a suggestion."
Before Asmodeus could answer Lucifer interrupted the arguing. "Enough! This is no time for bickering. We need a plan so here is mine; we double the amount of troops currently in the town and send in a new commander. If this fails to fix the problem and the situation deteriorates enough we will send in more men and one of us will lead them."
"How bad will it have to get before you send one of us on, and who will it be?" Belphegor asked.
"We'll worry about that when it happens. But for now this is our plan since it is the only one we have been able to come up with. I'll summon you when I have an update on the condition of the town and the battle." Satan said, dismissing them.
"Well that meeting certainly was productive." Evelyn said, sarcastically, as Asmodeus guided her down the corridor.
"Yes it was." He replied, overlooking her sarcasm. "We now have a plan, something we didn't have before."
"True." Evelyn agreed. "But I still think that meeting was a waste of time."
Asmodeus just chuckled.
As soon as Evelyn started paying attention to the passageway they were walking down she realized she had never walked down this one before.
"Where are we heading?"
"Well I wanted to show you where I go when I'm bored."
"The library?" She asked, remembering their earlier conversation.
Asmodeus grinned. "Yes." He confirmed as they stopped in front of a pair of large dark wooden doors with golden handles.
