The television turned on, showing Randy as he backed up from the camera. "Told ya I'd make a movie someday, huh?" He asked with a smile.
"Oh, my God," Sidney murmured. Jacqui leaned forward in her seat, resting her face on her left fist as her expression was unreadable.
Randy got his face close to the camera again. "Well, if you're watching this tape, it means, as I feared, I did not survive these killings here at Windsor College, and that giving up my virginity to Jacqui last January was probably not a good idea."
Jacqui heavily exhaled and quickly glanced to her left to see the rest of them all looking at her, she huffed and dropped her hands to her side. "Oh, my God! He let me drive, I almost crashed, near-death experiences unlock all types of hormones!" She overshared, earning a slight groan from Dewey.
"You know how it is, stuff happens, shit goes down!" Randy spoke from the TV.
"Exactly!" Jacqui agreed before quickly turning back to the screen, confused at how well what Randy said lined up with what she did.
Someone started knocking on Randy's door. "Open up the door, Randy!"
"Fifteen minutes!" He yelled, raising his brows.
"It's my room, too!"
"Paul, fifteen minutes! I'm leaving my legacy!" The knocking continued, so Randy hopped out of his chair and ran up to the door. "Fifteen minutes, Paul! DAMN!" Jacqui smiled as Randy slowly came back to the camera.
"Anyway, the reason I'm here is to help you, so that my death will not be in vain. That my life's work will help save some other poor soul from getting mutilated. If this killer does come back, and he's for real, there are a few things that you gotta remember.
"Is this simply another sequel? Well, if it is, the same rules apply. But, here's the critical thing, if you find yourself dealing with an unexpected backstory, and a preponderance of exposition, then the sequel rules do not apply. Because you're not dealing with a sequel, you are dealing with the concluding chapter of a trilogy."
"Trilogy," Dewey repeated quietly.
"That's right. It's a rarity in the horror field, but it does exist, and it is a force to be reckoned with. Because true trilogies are about going back to the beginning and discovering something that wasn't true from the get-go. Godfather, Jedi, all revealed something that we thought was true that wasn't true. So, if it is a trilogy you are dealing with, here are some super trilogy rules.
"One: You've got a killer who's gonna be superhuman. Stabbing him won't work, shooting him won't work. Basically, in the third one, you've gotta cryogenically freeze his head, decapitate him, or blow him up.
"Number two: Anyone, including the main character, can die. This means you, Sid. I'm sorry. It's the final chapter. It could be fucking Reservoir Dogs by the time this thing is through.
"Number three: The past will come back to bite you in the ass. Whatever you think you know about the past, forget it. The past is not at rest! Any sins you think were committed in the past are about to break out and destroy you."
Jacqui's blinking fastened with her breathing quickening, not noticing the tear come down the right side of her face.
"So, in closing, let me say good luck, Godspeed, and for some of you . . . I'll see you soon. 'Cause the rules say some of you ain't gonna make it. . . . I didn't. Not if you're watching this tape." Then the screen went to static.
Jacqui let out a long breath before standing up. "Dammit, that'd be a lot sadder if his face wasn't so fucking close to the camera."
Jacqui made her way to the door while rubbing her eyes as the others quickly stood up. "Jac, wait—"
