Alright, so a little late today, I apologize for that. Also, I had an unexpected trip to the fair with my family come up, so the two chapters I was going to post today is only going to be this one, with the second one posted tomorrow once I finish the final touches on that one.
Side note that no one asked for; I just spent an hour after editing this and getting ready to post it, looking for one of our cats that decided to pull a vanishing trick on us and we were worried she somehow made it out of the house. Not sure where the hell she was, but she just suddenly appeared under one of the beds that we all looked under several times and she hadn't been there, so yeah. But at least we found her.
You can blame her though, for the further delay of the chapter.
Lily's POV
I needed a spa day. Or at the very least, a bathtub full of bubbles and water hot enough to turn my skin red, and a few shots of tequila. That might make me feel better.
I suppose a nap and a proper meal wouldn't hurt either.
However, at the moment, since they'd kidnapped fellow agents and nearly killed Ev, I'd gladly settle for blood and mayhem instead.
With that thought in mind, I moved quickly and quietly out from behind the tree I'd ducked behind, plunging a taser into the neck of the mercenary that had been patrolling this area and pressing the button.
I got the pleasure of watching him twitch and then fall to the floor.
I leaned down next to him and peeled the helmet off his face as I stared down at him.
Nope. Not someone I recognized. Not that I was expecting him to be. He was wheezing, his eyes all bugged out, face red, and spit flying from his mouth with every breath.
I suppose he had looked better.
I smiled down at him. "Apologies," I said as I pulled out my phone and snapped a picture of his face. "But I've dealt with you assholes before and I gotta say, it wasn't fun. With that in mind, I decided not to play fair this time around." I sat on his chest as I patted him down.
"Oh, score," I muttered as I pulled an opened granola bar from his pocket. "Now," I said between bites. "I don't suppose you're feeling chatty, are you?"
He glared back at me.
I let out a sigh as I pulled a knife from my boot. "I thought not." With that said, I sunk a knife into his throat, holding it there until his heart stopped while I continued to eat the granola bar with my free hand.
I crumbled up the granola bar wrapper and stuffed it back into his pocket before going through the rest of his pockets. I took several more knives and some explosives. I would have taken the gun, but I had my own, and I was actually going for stealth this time around.
It was also the reason I had parked my motorcycle a fair ways away and then walked in on foot instead of just charging in. It was actually rather irritating since this stealthy business was so not my style.
I mean, it's not like stealth didn't have its moments, but I personally felt that stealth took way too much longer than just blowing the shit out of something.
Saves time, effort, and you get a pretty light show at the end of it all.
I let out a disappointed sigh as I realized I likely wouldn't get a light show today. Still, I'd been following after the mercenaries and their stupid vans for days, only to end up in another place that was just as deserted as the one before.
Also, it wasn't as if I wanted to be following these damn mercenaries. One, I remembered what it was like to deal with them from previous experiences, and no thanks. I didn't like them, nor I was I confident I could take more than three on at the same time. If even that. However, I was beginning to notice that these mercenaries seemed a bit weaker than the previous ones I'd run across. Two, I had far more entertaining people to be following around.
