"I can give that to you later tonight for a change -" his tongue slipped, forgetting that Asuma and all the others were right there. My face turned red, then pale
"What do you mean!" Asuma growls
Genma quickly covers up by saying that it hasn't been too long since I last ate the ice cream, so it would be better if I at least let the evening pass.
Asuma somehow believed it, which I was relieved about. Ir is sometimes a little too easy to convince him.
Genma and I have never gone down that road, but we have snuck out a few times for quick makeout sessions. If Asuma finds out, he will go nuts.
He is very overprotective of me, and technically, my guardian since he is eight years older than me. We were separated from our parents when I was barely two years old.
Honestly, i don't even remember their faces much.. we've got no photo with them either, just a handmade drawing that Asuma had made when he was little.
He told me that around the time of third shinobi war, we were chased by rogue ninjas and Asuma made a run for it, carrying me protectively in his arms, as he reached the gates of konoha.
A few days later, the disfigured bodies of a man and a woman were found near the border of our supposed homeland, the village hidden in the waterfall. The man resembled Asuma, and the woman had the same eyes as me.
They were my parents, who became the victims of war.
Lord fourth and his wife took me in, who were way younger than our parents at that time. Yet they adopted me, and since then, we became official residents of the leaf. I was finally starting a new and happy life with my big bro and my adoptive parents taking care of me.
Asuma was taken under custody by Lord Third, and he trained and took care of Asuma. The day old man third died, and Asuma officially changed his last name to Sarutobi in his memory and honor..
I soon got enrolled into the academy.
That's how I got to know about Kakashi... dad would often bring me to his team's training, and I would just sit in awe, looking at him fight and train. I didn't interact with him as much as I did with Rin and Obito, though. I usually made them crowns and bands with the flowers I used to pluck, and in return, Obito would make me sit on his shoulders and give me a ride around the training grounds.
By the time I turned seven, both Obito and Rin were gone. That was when I was separated from mom and dad. Me, Asuma, Kakashi, and Iruka, all of us weren't allowed to participate or indulge in battle. Asuma was consoling a panicking Iruka, who had lost his parents, and Kakashi was holding me, as I witnessed the nine-tails kill mom and dad.
The day Naruto was born was the day our parents were killed. Asuma eventually got over it because he mostly lived on his own right from the start.
I was given my own house to live at the mere age of seven, while Naruto grew up with Lord Third during his initial years.Asuma, Kurenai, and Iruka were there with me most of the time, and Kakashi used to visit me twice or thrice a week.
Maybe because I got to see him so less, I was always excited when he visited. I would always wait for him to come, and as an apology for not coming every day, he used to bring me my favorite ice creams. I started developing a crush on him but never confessed to it..
"Hello? Earth to Yuki? Where are you lost?" I hear Asuma's voice with a hint of annoyance and worry, which was quickly masked by his usual tone when I looked at him.
I must have been looking possessed standing still in the middle of the room, all silent.
"Yuki, are you okay?" Asuma asked, handing a plate to Kurenai.
