Yukina's pov
I felt my face turn a little pale, looking at the amount of money I made him spend.
I saw the cashier pack the clothes as I remembered the mufflers.
When Kakashi wasn't paying attention, I whispered to the lady packing the clothes.
"Excuse me, could you please pack those nine mufflers in separate gift bags?" She nodded and packed them in small red paperbags, which were collectively packed into one large white bag.
By the time we left the store, both of kakashi's hands were full of shopping bags.
"Kakashi, let me hold at least some of them -"
"Absolutely not Ina." He says, not budging.
He guided me to walk straight ahead until the market ended, and there were a few steps going up near the hill.
I remember this place quite well...
"Just a moment, Ina, I'll be back." He said and rushed up, disappearing in a fraction of a second.
He quickly came back down, and I noticed the bags were gone.
"Let's go, let me take you to our old place."
Before I could respond, he put his hands under my thighs and back, picking me up in one swift motion
"Kakashi-"
"Close your eyes, no peeking okay?"
I closed them as he asked, with my heartbeat getting quicker, feeling something in my belly because of the way he was holding me so close
I felt him climbing the steps as he tightened his grip on me. I hope others weren't looking, because we definitely did not look like just friends right now.
"Alright, we're here, you can open your eyes now." He said, putting me back down.
I opened my eyes to see a magnificent view of the sunset, shining beautifully on konoha's land.
I stood there in awe, my mouth agape, just admiring the colours of sunset blending beautifully and creating a perfect scenery of the village.
"We used to have picnics here after training.. Obito, Rin, you, Minato sensei and Kushina-san. It is a precious place to me, everybody knows about this spot, but nobody has ever come up here after.."
I turned around to see Kakashi's eyes shining, as he talked about that time so passionately.
Without thinking, I turned to him and gave him a tight hug. I can relate to him.. I know the pain of coming across places where you spent the happiest moments of your life, knowing that you won't be able to experience the same joy again.
I felt his arms tighten around my back. I put my arms around his neck and he pulled me closer by my waist.
I caressed the back of his head a little and he buried his face in the crook of my neck.
"Kashi.. I'm right here, let it out." I spoke as softly as I could, and I felt a shiver run through him.
"I-na?" He called me ever so lightly, his voice breaking.
"Yes Kakashi?" I replied, run my fingers through his silver hair.
"I won't let you die like I let them"
I froze.
He's punishing himself for the death of his loved ones since years.. but this is the first time I've seen him speak up about it.
"Neither will I, Kashi. But you should know.. you were helpless back then, there was no way you could have seen it coming."
I don't know if it helped or not, but I wanted to comfort him.. not as his best friend's younger sister but as his friend too.
