Tremors shook Cathryn's body as she laid on her hands and knees, trying not to dry heave. Her fingers rubbed against the dirty Fazbear floor tiles as she trembled violently. Her hands reached for her hair, clenching thick, dark strands in her sweaty palms and refusing to let go. She tugged and tugged, trying to rid herself of her nerves and, in the process, yanking out small hairs. They fluttered silently to the ground, peacefully resting next to the giant robotic feet standing at the edge of her vision.
Cathryn blanched as she stared up at Freddy, who towered over her. If she could manage standing, she would probably only go to his shoulders at best. She moaned as she hunched over, taking the time to cradle her left arm. Dark blue bruises were already beginning to form as she bled under the skin.
"Wha-wha..." She couldn't manage to form a word, her teeth clacking so hard all they could do was repeatedly bite into her tongue. In an effort to keep from breaking them, Cathryn bit into the soft flesh lining her cheek.
"You..."
It was one word, yet it spiked a new round of pain and struggles. Cathryn squeezed her eyes shut, vomit pooling at the back of her tongue, and prayed that she was dreaming. What had that sound been? Cathryn knew what it was, but...that was impossible...that was crazy talk...that was...
"You," Cathryn accused, managing enough strength to say the single word without letting acidic liquid spew from her mouth. She stared up at Freddy, her eyes open so wide she worried they were going to fall out of her skull.
The bear stood, almost in a daze, and continued as if he'd never heard her. "You're a child." The voice was deep, and surprisingly rich despite the robotic undertone.
Freddy sounded like an adult man...but Cathryn had never heard the animatronics talk before when they weren't on stage. She was desperate to ask questions, but the bile she struggled to choke down kept her silent.
"You shouldn't be here," the bear said darkly.
Cathryn tried to back away when Freddy leaned down, his eyelids twitching to partly cover his eyes. His slick, black eyebrows lowered to make him look...almost concerned.
Shivers ran down her spine, and Cathryn wished she had enough adrenaline left coursing through her to run away. Instead, it all poured out the small head wound still trickling thin streams of blood down her cheeks and lips.
While taking in steady gulps of air, Cathryn choked down the wretched liquid. "You can talk," she spat, rancor outlining her glare as she stared at the almost human expression on Freddy's face.
He nodded slowly. "Go." It wasn't a suggestion; it was an order. Freddy's tone was so bold, it made a shiver run down Cathryn's spine. She stared into his glassy, fake eyes, confused and startled and horrified all at the same time. He raised one arm and pointed back in the direction she had come. "Go."
Back to...back to...?
"You're letting me go?" Her angry face fell into astonishment when Freddy said nothing. He was pointing back towards the office, but why? Why was he letting her go? What about the way he had attacked her? And the images of countless security guards before her being shown no mercy? Why her? What had she done to deserve a different fate?
"Go," he snarled, and fear once again filled her meek body.
Her limbs felt weak and slow, but Cathryn managed to drag herself back from the bear. He analyzed her every move; watched as she, pathetically, attempted to stand. Cathryn was so shaken from the attack, that her nerves refused to cooperate, dropping her to the floor every time she rose to her feet.
