FALLING INTO PLACE

Katsuki's thumb hovered over the "send" button, a split-second of hesitation before finally pressing down. The familiar sound of the message being sent echoed through the silence of his room.

The instant Katsuki sent the text message to the old class group chat, he regretted it.

The class group chat, a relic from their UA days, had mostly collected digital dust, occasionally sparking to life for sporadic dinner meet-ups. Katsuki had always avoided responding, showing little interest in revisiting his past.

Katsuki: Hey, losers. Deku wants to reconnect or whatever, Dinner at my place this weekend.
Be there.

The group chat exploded with activity the moment Katsuki's response hit the screen. Messages flooding in one after the other.

Pinky: OMG, I can't believe it! I'm so excited!

Glasses: That's highly unexpected! I never thought I'd see the day.

Ponytail: Bakugo, are you feeling alright? This is quite a surprise!

Shitty Hair: Dude, you better not be messing with us. I've been waiting for this moment!

Frog Face: Kero, kero! I can't believe it! Bakugo is actually inviting us over?

Shitty Hair: This is gonna be awesome! Thanks for inviting us, bakubro!

Katsuki: Don't get too damn excited. There are conditions.

Pink Cheeks: Wait, is this for real? Bakugo inviting us to his house? Aww, I can't wait to see Izuku!

Pink Cheeks: Conditions? What kind of conditions?

Katsuki: It's going to be a small gathering of people I approve of. And no, you can't bring your damn plus ones.

Dunce Face: Aw, man. I was gonna bring my girlfriend.

Katsuki: Tough luck, Pikachu.

As the texts flooded in, Katsuki's irritation grew. He wasn't used to this incessant stream of messages, each demanding his attention. His fingers hovered over the screen, struggling to keep up with the influx of texts.

Katsuki: Enough with the damn messages already! I said it's a small gathering!

Shitty Hair: Calm down, Bakubro. We're just excited.

Katsuki: EXCITED MY ASS. Just don't make me regret inviting you all.

Ice Prick: Well, it's about time you decided to socialize, Bakugo. Maybe you'll learn some manners from us.

Katsuki's eyes narrowed at Shoto's comment, his temper flaring up instantly.

Katsuki: Shut your icy trap, Half-and-Half! I'm doing this for Deku, not for you losers. If you have a problem with it, stay the hell away.

Katsuki chucked his phone onto the bench, irritation pulsing through him like a damn fever. Inviting his old classmates over seemed like a good idea at the time, but now? It was shaping up to be a royal pain in the ass. This was bound to give him a migraine... or maybe even a fucking stroke.

Izuku was wheezing on the floor next to him, his breaths coming in ragged gasps after the relentless workout Katsuki had put him through all week. With his first day back on active-duty looming, Katsuki wasn't pulling any punches. Sweat poured off Izuku's face, his muscles burning from the last grueling set.
