Wrath and Lightning
Katsuki gritted his teeth, every muscle in his body tensing like a spring as he faced down the monstrous black Nomu. If this thing gave All Might a hard time, he was seriously screwed—but there was no way in hell he'd back down now. Retreat wasn't in his vocabulary. The Nomu barreled toward him with such blinding speed that he barely registered the movement before he had to hurl himself aside.
He narrowly dodged the initial strike, feeling the air crackle as the Nomu's colossal fist whooshed past his cheek by mere millimeters. The sheer force of the missed punch created a shockwave that blasted behind him, uprooting small trees and sending a cloud of dust and debris hurtling through the air. The ground where he had stood just moments before exploded into a crater, chunks of earth and rock erupting violently.
Shit! He needed to get off the defensive before it cornered him. He retaliated instantly, launching an AP Shot from his palms straight into the creature's side. The blast echoed like thunder, flames searing into the Nomu's flesh. But the beast merely staggered slightly, its skin regenerating almost immediately—as if his attack was nothing more than a gentle breeze.
Katsuki's heart sank, a cold dread creeping in. This damn thing is a fucking tank.
The Nomu lunged again, its massive arm swinging downward with terrifying speed. Katsuki blasted himself to the side, the fist smashing into the ground with such force that the earth shook beneath him. A fissure spider-webbed out from the point of impact, and a cloud of dirt and rock fragments blasted upward, pelting him as he slid to safety.
He barely had time to breathe before the next assault. The Nomu's clawed hand sliced through the air horizontally, aiming to cleave him in two. Katsuki ducked, feeling the tips of the claws graze the spikes of his hair. The displaced air from the swipe was so intense it felt like a gale-force wind, tearing at his clothes and stinging his eyes.
Renewed adrenaline surged through his veins as he tried to match the Nomu's relentless onslaught. Each attack was a brutal assault, leaving him precious little room to maneuver. He fired off another explosive blast, aiming for its legs, the explosion illuminating the battlefield. The ground beneath the Nomu's feet erupted, shards of stone and dirt flying in all directions. But it barely slowed the beast down; it trudged forward through the smoke and flames as if walking through a mild rainstorm.
It was like trying to obliterate a damn mountain.
The Nomu raised both fists and hammered them into the ground. Katsuki sprang backward, but the impact rippled through the earth, cracks splintering out and causing the terrain to heave violently. He stumbled, his footing precarious as the ground shifted beneath him. Dust and debris filled the air, obscuring his vision.
A sudden whoosh alerted him to another incoming attack. He twisted just in time to see the Nomu's fist tearing through the cloud of dust, aimed straight for his head. He ducked, the fist missing him by a hair's breadth and smashing into a thick maple behind him. The tree exploded on contact, chunks of wood spraying outward like shrapnel.
Swing. Miss. Swing. Miss.
Katsuki needed to put some godamn distance between them. It was keeping him pinned with on the defensive. He couldn't beat this thing head-on, but he might be able to outsmart the bastard. He needed a new strategy. His eyes darted around, searching for anything he could use.
