chapter 2

Well, being noticeable and everyone picking on you isn't the best.

Being invisible doesn't seem as bad now that I think about it.

Maybe if I befriend him, he can teach me how to be invisible. I know, it sounds stupid and it's going to be hard, but it's worth a shot.

I texted Calum, asking if he wanted to go to the movies, hang out, or something.

M-hey calum, its mia. wanna hang out or something tomorrow?
C-yeah, that sounds great. Where would you wanna go.
M-we can... Go to the movies? I mean, if you want.
C-perfect. I'll pick you up at 7?
M-great

I set down my phone and took all of my homework out of my backpack.

I didn't have a lot, just a little bit of math and science.

I finished my homework around 6 o'clock and went out of my room to see if there was anything for dinner.

i went downstairs to see my mom just sitting on the couch.

"hey mom, is there anything for dinner?" i asked circling the couch and sitting down.

"just make whatever you want." she replied.

"is there something wrong." i asked.

"no no no, everything fine." she said adding a small smile.

i left it at that, but i still wasn't convinced.

i went upstairs to my brothers room. i had an older brother, 21 years old to be exact.

i opened his door and saw another familiar face, rose, his girlfriend.

they were a really cute couple actually. they have been dating for 2 years now, but it seems like it has been forever.

"do you guys want something to eat orrrr...." i trailed off waiting for one of them to think of a better idea.

"i'll drive us to mcdonalds." chase suggested.

this seemed like a routine now, every night seeing mom on the couch looking unhappy, me asking her if shes okay, her replying with yes, and then rose, chase, and i going to some fast food restaurant.

we always asked mom if she wanted something, but the same thing everytime, "no honey, im fine."

i dont think she ate in the past three days aside when we made her eat.

i feel bad, but i dont know what to do. i kinda got used to seeing mom unhappy but not this unhappy. my dad walked out on us when i was born so we moved here.

i tried to make my mom go on other dates to get to know someone else other than dad.

she always rejected.

i ordered my food and sat in the booth with rose while chase waited for the food.

rose and i are very close, she's like the sister i never had.

"so, is there anything new." she smiled and i started to blush.

true, calum and i didn't have a thing going on, but this would be my first ever date with a boy.

"why are you blushing." she chuckled.

"its a boy." she said straight faced.

how the hell did she know.

"trust me, when people talked about your brother, i was the same way."

"yeah, i have my first real date tomorrow."

"what are you guys doing?" she leaned in wanting to be more in the conversation.

"were just going to the movies." i shrugged.

she laughed a little.

"what?" i chuckled back.

"when you go to the movies, he will bring you to a scary movie so you will cuddle him for protection. he'll put his arm around you guys and he'll cuddle you back. thats just the start." she smirked.

"boom! i can help you get ready tomorrow."

"wow, you seem excited." i laughed seeing chase get the food and go to the drink-filling station.

"yeah, your the little sister i never had." she said squeezing my hand.

"just don't tell chase he can get... protective." i rolled my eyes.

"yeah, i know he can. like when that one guy waved at you! you didn't even know him but he still flipped out!" she laughed with me joining remembering that time.

"what's so funny?" chase smirked as he sat down next to rose.

i looked her in the eyes, she gave me a reassuring look.

"just talking about that one band one direction, harry slipped and fell yesterday on stage." she said slipping a fry in her mouth.

oh god how i am thankful for her.
