"Sanem?" the person walks into the bathroom. "Sanem," he says again, but she's not responding; she's just showering, eyes closed, and lost in her thoughts. So, he opens the shower door and touches her shoulder. "Sanem," he says still, in his gentle voice, and she gasps.
"Yigit!" She says. "W-what are you doing?" She was confused.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." He looked at her, confused. Sanem doesn't get scared easily.
"No. No. It's ok." She says feeling uncomfortable in front of him. Yes, they are married. Yeah, they have had sex, but she has never felt comfortable with him. But sadly, she cannot say a word. It was all part of the deal she made with her parents.
He gently smiles at her. "Are you sure?" she nods. "Ok." And he steps out of the shower, grabs a towel and dries himself off.
I wonder what she was thinking about. He asked himself. Even though, They've been married for 14 years now. He knows she doesn't love him, and something he has never been able to understand, why hasn't Sanem given him any vampire babies?
"Are you ok?" She asks, showing him "off" through the glass windows.
"Yeah. I'm fine." He lies.
He's lying
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah." He looks at her and smiles.
I will know one day why you are always like that around me. He told himself. One day.
"So, where are you going to tell me something?"
"No, no, really. I was just going to tell you that we're all waiting for you to be able to leave."
"Oh, that's okay. Thank you. Either way, I'm done," she says. "I needed that shower." She exhales.
"Can I ask you something?" He asks as she is wrapping the towel around her.
"Yeah. Of course." She smiles as she's getting out of the shower.
"What were you thinking about?" He looked at her straight in her eyes. He may not be able to read minds, like Can, or manage emotions like Ozan or
But he is able to tell if a vampire is lying by looking at them in the eye and seeing the inside veins shift as they tell the lie. Sanem knows his ability and knows not a lot of vampires are able to lie. But she has learned. For her son's life. She has learned to tell Yigit what he wants to hear and not let him see her true self.
"Oh, nothing, really. I was lost in thought with all of the times we've been out in the country—smelling fresh air, running around, trying to fly with birds, seeing if we can catch them." She exhales. Even though it is not true that that was what she was thinking, she had to come up with something credible. "And since you know how I love hot water, I was lost in thought. So, I'm sorry."
"Don't be. I'm glad we have some time to think and remember the amazing memories we've had together," he says, thinking that Sanne is telling the truth.
She grabs his hand, squeezes it gently, and smiles. "Always," she says. What he doesn't know is that John was there in those memories.
"Okay. Well. I'm going to get ready because we have this committee to attend," she said sarcastically.
