After the initial appointment with Arizona where we found out triplets are now in order; went out to the store and bought two more cribs and a shit ton of other duplicates. Today we've decided to tackle putting them together, which I'm not really looking forward to but it needs to be done. Delia did the first one on her own but now that there's two, I felt a need to help out; which means getting up early like she does so we can do it together.
First we have a nice big breakfast, well big for me because I'm unreasonably hungry. Afterwards we watched tv a bit to let the food settle. "How ya feeling, sweet pea?" she asks me, "really good" I mumble as I snuggle closer to her. "I love you" she whispers and I look up to see her staring down at me as she pushes hair out my face. "I love you too" I smile, it slowly grows into a face-splitting grin and she giggles.
Shortly after we head into the baby's room or should I say, babies room? Either way, we open the boxes up and make sure we keep the pieces of both separated so we don't get confused. Delia's at one end of the room and I'm at the other as we silently read the instructions and start. I decide to play some music just for a little background noise so I keep it low. This is really making me realize what's going on, like we're actually having triplets... that's insane.
I don't dwell on it too much, knowing that the supreme and I can get through this. We love each other so much and I just know we're going to love each and every baby, but that gets me thinking too. The way we planned this was to have two kids, I carry one and Delia carries the other. She couldn't have kids before but when she became the supreme, I suppose all of that was reversed since supremes are in perfect health and never get sick.
"You know... I've been thinking" I say softly as I look over at her, "about what?" she tilts her head as she continues to figure out the crib. "We talked about having two kids, me with the first one and you the second one" I prompt and she hums in response, still not looking at me as she places screws in the wood. "And it just so happens that I'm having three so... do you still want to have another one?" I pose curiously and she immediately stops what she's doing and turns to me.
It takes her a second to respond as she hums thoughtfully. "I haven't thought about that actually" she mumbles, it mostly seems like she's talking to herself. "I only ask because... what if you have a set of twins — or even another round of triplets?" I point out "that would be insane, I mean what are the odds?" she chuckles lightly. "What were the odds of me having them?" I counter, "good point" she sighs. It's silent for a moment as she thinks about it and I wait patiently for her response.
"I guess... not? Even if I only had one, four babies is a lot" she sighs deeply, "you could take one of mine" I giggle mindlessly. "I probably could actually but... that'd be awkward to explain to Arizona" she teases and I look at her in shock. "You really could??" I ask, a bit amazed that her powers really extend that far but it's Cordelia so why am I surprised? "I'm the supreme, darling; I could find a way if I wanted to" she smirks, always loving to remind me of her power and dominance.
"You should do it then! Not just because the thought of three kids ripping through me is terrifying — I know how much you want to experience it" I ramble happily, "both of us being pregnant at the same time... can you imagine? Who would do all the grocery shopping — the late night craving runs" she argues and a suck my teeth. "I've got a few things on Madison that I could leverage" I joke, "if we did... we'd probably have to live at the academy. I mean that's a lot of travel back and forth every day if we'll both be doing it" she thinks aloud.
"I'm ok with that" I shrug as I turn to start working on the crib again, glad we'd gotten that out the way. "I... it's fine. I really don't need to carry one — they'll still be our children" she mumbles after a moment and I turn back to face her. The blonde has started working on the crib again but now I feel like we have to continue this. I know she's not being truthful but I don't really blame her because she's only trying to please me. "You don't have to pretend this isn't something you want... it won't offend me" I assure her and her hands stop working but she doesn't look up.
"You're right, they'll be our children regardless of who carries them, but I know this is something you really want to experience and I have three; you having one won't make a difference" I want to make sure she knows that I have no hesitations about this. "Are you sure? I feel like it'd be a lot of work... I'm just not sure" she sighs nervously and I think quickly, I want to take away any worry she feels about it because she really deserves this.
"Well, as far as late night cravings, we can alternate and there's as always delivery services for everything" I remind her, "but are you sure you don't mind moving to the academy just until the delivery?" I watch her anxiously bite her lip and I pout a little bit. Sure I don't want to live there because it's just a lot of people in one place but if she ever asked me, I surely would. "Babe, when are you gonna get into that pretty head of yours?" I smirk, getting on my knees and crawling over to her.
"I'd do anything for you" I whisper as I lean in to peck her lips and she blushes lightly. Her hands find my hips and guide me onto her lap as she stretches her legs out to even the pressure. Without saying anything more, she closes the gap between us and kisses me deeply. I whimper a bit as she pulls my hips closer to hers and I feel her smile more. I pull back and lock eyes with her, both of us in a slight daze. "You're the prettiest most generous girl in the world" she whispers and I blush a bit as I bury my face in the crook of her neck.
"I don't know why you're hiding — it's pointless, baby, I know you're blushing" she teases and I whine playfully which makes her chuckle. "Are we really doing this?" she asks softly and I lean back, my arms around her neck to keep me steady, "absolutely" I reply without hesitation. "Alicia..." she whispers and I nod absently as I get lost in her eyes, "I need you to pay attention for this" she giggles and I blink a few times before nodding firmly so she knows she has all my attention.
"Will you marry me?" she asks shakily, "Will I- wow..." all the breath leaves my body. That's the last thing I expected her to say or rather ask me right now. "You're the best partner I've ever had and... I love you so much. We're starting a family together and I just can't see myself spending my life with anyone else. I umm... I don't know what else to say, I mean I don't have a ring — this wasn't anything I planned. I guess... in my future all I see is you because you are my future i-if you want to be" she whispers.
My eyes well up with tears and I nod but it almost feels like my head isn't moving. None of this feels real in a way because this is like the best dream, I never could've imagined anything like this. With all we've been through together, there's still more to our story. "Is that a yes?" she asks nervously, "yeah" it's softer than a whisper but she hears it nonetheless which I can tell by the colossal grin on her face. "I'll buy you a ring as soon as I can get to the store — you can pick it out!" she squeals and I smile as I shake my head.
"You seem to make pretty good choices... I want you to choose" I smirk but the blush making my cheeks warm betrays me. "You're so cute" her voice changes almost to one you would use with a baby and it takes me by surprise. I start giggling and it becomes uncontrollable when she starts to gently poke my sides. "Ok let's finish these before you give me a heart attack" I joke and she agrees. We go back to work, glancing at each other every so often. My future wife and mother of my child... what a life to live.
