44| Joining the Society

A notice on the college had created excitement among the students. They all were thrilled to learn that trials to join various societies in college were supposed to begin the following week.
Everyone was waiting to know more about
it.

The next day they waited anxiously for the announcements and details. Soon, Miss Anna, their professor, walked into the class with a bright smile.

"Good morning everyone! How are you all? How was your vacation?", she asked.

Everyone got excited and greeted her in
unison.

"Well, as you all must have already read the notice on the board that the trials for various societies are beginning next week so I would like you to think and then give your names for the society that you would like to join and trial for. This is the perfect opportunity for you guys to explore the extra-curricular activities that you will be interested in. So everyone, please think hard and decide for yourselves. Submit your names within the next 2 days and All the best," Ms. Anna explained and guided them thoroughly through the process.

After the end of the class, everyone went here and there trying to figure out where they would fit in and what interested them.

Tanya went straight to Jahaan and called out to him from behind, " Jahaan ! Listen to me, just a minute!"

Hearing her, Jahaan stopped and turned around. Tanya rushed towards him and asked, "Which society are you planning to join?"

Jahaan was well aware that Tanya was inquiring about this so that she could join the same society as him.

"I haven't thought of anything yet, but maybe I might join the Music Society," Jahaan  answered.
Hearing him refer to the music society, all hopes were dashed down for Tanya .

"What? Music soc? Do you know how to play any instrument? Tanya asked in surprise.

"Aren't you underestimating me? You are not yet aware of how talented I am!" Jahaan spoke and turned away and started to leave. Tanya somehow missed seeing the laughter in Jahaan 's eyes and how he was trying to hold back his mirth.

"I thought that he would join the sports society but here he is thinking of joining the music society. Music? I don't even know the M of music. What do I do now?" Tanya thought.

"No! Somehow I have to convince him to join the sports society, because I can't go for music," Thinking of this, she again ran after Jahaan .

Jahaan went to the cafeteria for lunch. As soon as he sat at the table, Tanya rushed and sat down in front of him as well.

" Jahaan , why don't you join the sports society? You are so good at sports, aren't you?" Tanya asked.

Jahaan  thought that Tanya  wanted to join the sports society with him. He laughed after seeing Tanya  trying to convince him to join the sports society.

He controlled his laughter and replied, "Yes, but I have played a lot of sports. I used to play basketball in my high school years. So now I'm thinking of exploring something else like music."

"You should pursue sports further. Let's forget about music and all" Tanya  responded instantly.

"No, I'm quite sure I want to join the music soc," Jahaan  answered and got up to leave.

"Dude! looks like he's very keen to join the music society. But now how to change his mind? ",Tanya thought.

When she came out of the canteen, she found Jordan  sitting in the garden. She went to him and sat beside him.

"What are you doing sitting here alone?" Tanya  asked.

Jordan gave her an annoyed look and then went back to his books.
