What now? What did this mean?
It shouldn't have meant anything.
"Take a few steps to the left and look right." He said.
I followed his instructions and found him sitting in a small room. It boggled my mind that they had such a huge library and house, it felt more like a public library. He sat on a thick big brown couch, with his one leg on the other and his arms crossed. The chair looked like it was going to consume him, yet he still had an air of masculinity and power about him. He also did not look exactly approachable or friendly.
"Hi." I said. Lifting my hand a little and waving.
"I don't really remember you." He stated, making my heart hurt a little. "But I do. It's not like I know who you are. But I do. It doesn't make sense. There's this sense of familiarity about you. That's why I believe you."
I found myself smiling a little. "So it doesn't sound absolutely crazy?"
"It does." He said."But can I tell you a secret?"
"Sure."
He started smirking before he told me. "All the best people are crazy."
My mouth fell ajar. "Funny." I said sarcastically.
He laughed, lightening up his dark expression. "Please come sit here."
I walked into the little, dimly lit room and saw another two couches. I sat on the one that faced Daniel's couch. "So why don't we get to know each other a little bit again while I'm here?" I gave in to the little desire in my heart to have my friend back. Knowing i wasn't being fair to him.
He thought about it for a second. "How well did we know each other? How long have you been here?"
"I think I have been here for a few months." I tried to think about it. "We were inseparable."
His eyes twinkled. "In what way?" He asked. If it weren't for me knowing him so well, I would not have understood that question. He was asking if we were just friends.
"We were inseparable as best friends usually are." I stated.
"Just friends hey?" He mused, his mouth curving. "Well that doesn't make sense with a girl as beautiful and as sweet as you."
Wow, straight to the point aren't we? His outright flirting made me blush a little bit. "I think we worked better as just friends."
"Ah," He laughed a little. "Way to make sure a guy stays in the friendzone. But if that's what you want..." I often didn't understand the the phrases he used, but I laughed with him, not because I understood the phrase, but because him laughing made me laugh too. I liked it when he was happy. If Alex hadn't come back into my life and asked for an second chance, I might have accepted Daniel's proposal of being more than just friends. (In due time that is.) But that would have been in a completely different life.
"So let's start at the beginning. You obviously have a brother, Puck. Do you have any other siblings? And where are your parents?" He asked seriously, then added. "If I went missing my parents would turn the world upside down looking for me."
"Uh, no just me and Puck." I paused, wanting to word the next part correctly. "My parents passed away many years ago, I don't really remember them. We live in the castle, our parents were close to the King and Queen from what I know." Maybe I had shared a bit too much in one go, but I wanted to be completely open.
"Oh... I'm sorry." He looked as if he felt bad for asking.
"It's okay. It was a long time ago."
