After Alex had proposed we went back to announce the news to the others. We decided that we could not hide forever, it had already almost been a week and Oberon would not give up until he had captured us. We took another glorious train trip back to the city. I made sure to memorise every moment and aspect of it. It was something I would cherish forever and I memory I would hold onto in case I never got to come back again. My heart clenched realising that I couldn't have Daniel and Emma at the wedding. This was followed by the realisation that I may have never seen them again. They couldn't come to the immortal realm because they had their own lives here and time passed very differently there. If they came with they could lose months or even years of time. I listened to the steady rhythm of the train moving to calm myself, I would face the goodbye when we arrived at the end of our ride. It felt so metaphorical.

The goodbye was difficult. Alex, Puck and Hunter gave Daniel and I a moment alone. We stood awkwardly for a few moments, unable to really look at each other.

"Do you want us to erase your memories?" I asked timidly.

Daniel stared at me intensely, the greenness of his eyes only increasing the intensity. It seemed like he was mulling it over in his mind. "I don't want to forget you. It's just my mind that forgets, my heart could feel that there was something missing. Someone."

That statement cracked me. The first tear rolled out. "I'm sorry I did this to you. From the beginning. It was so selfish of me, I should of stayed away."

"It takes two to tango." He said another one of the humans strange phrases. "It mean by that is I know I wanted to be your friend too. You've been the best friend."

"You have too." He pulled me in for a tight hug. We stayed like this for a while, I silently cried into his chest. "You could come with? I have a pretty friend that I'm sure you'd like."

"I would. I mean staying this age forever, sounds near perfect to me. But I don't think it would be so great for Emma. Her being so young and all."

"We could age her up faster, with magic. Then you could both come." I said this hopelessly.

"I'm going to miss you, Katie."

"I'm going to miss you too, Daniel, with all my heart."

When we got back to the immortal realm Oberon was so angry. I think we was literally going to go all "Off with her head!" On me, but Alex interceded on my behalf and explained that we were engaged. I then had to wait in the throne room with Puck for hours while Oberon and Alex discussed the situation. Eventually they came out and seemed to have reached a truce. They were both solemn, but it seemed that the negotiation went in our favour. Even Puck got off scott-free. From the moment we walked out of the doors of the throne room everything became about the wedding.

Before I got swept away Alex pulled me aside. "I am really sorry, we are not going to see each other from now until the wedding. My dad consented to us getting married because he does see the benefits. He sees the good qualities in you. But we have to have a traditional Elven wedding. You don't need to do any planning. But yeah. Good luck, my Katie. You're going to have a royal wedding."

I literally didn't see him once more from that moment on. I didn't mind having a traditional Elven wedding though, I had seen one when I was young and they were wonderful. We would make a large bonfire and say our vows to one another while walking around it. We would then perform a traditional dance. First it would be just us two, around the bonfire. Then our immidiate family members. Then friends and other family members. Then the nobles. We would form rings around the fire and perform different traditional dances. Each dance had a special meaning and symbolism for the marriage.
