Roxanne's (P.O.V)

I was putting a vase of flowers in the middle of the table when the doorbell rang.

I quickly made sure that the flowers were set before going and answering it.

I knew it wasn't Sunny because she was at work still.

"Hey guys come on in." I said once I opened the door and saw all three of my best friends standing outside with gifts in their hands.

"Where's the birthday girl?" Cody said peeking inside real quick.

"She's at work." I looked at my watch. "She should be home soon if you guys want to wait for her."

"We have a ton of homework we have to do." Joey added.

"Okay, well I'll tell her you guys stopped by."

"Give her these for us." Sandy said, handing me her gift with the others doing the same thing.

"I'm glad that things are working out between you and Sunny." Joey smiled at me.

"Yeah, we're glad you found your soulmate," Cody said.

"Thank you guys." I said, giving them all a hug before they turned around and left.

After closing the door I set the gifts aside and went back to what I was doing.

It wasn't long before Sunny got home. She came in the door talking her head off about some customers at work but stopped when she saw the table filled with food and the speakers playing music.

"What is all this?" She said surprised.

"Happy birthday!" I laughed.

"You did all of this for me? How did you know it was my birthday?"

"I may have asked your former roommates," I paused. "Your friends stopped by and brought you gifts," I said, pointing to the kitchen counter where the gifts were.

"I've never celebrated my birthday with anyone other than my family. This is new." She smiled as she put her bag down.

"Come sit let's eat." I walked over to the table and pulled out a chair for her.

"Well, thank you madam." She said laughing before taking a seat.

I pulled out the chair across from her and sat down.

The meal started out nice. Sunny told me about her night at work. Yesterday after we went cliff diving and we got home I told her about my cancer and she cried because of my choice to not do treatment. Talking about my cancer made her sad so we avoided the topic. We talked about my day and how school went. We also talked about Sunny's worst and best birthdays, and then we talked about other things.

I told her how today we were celebrating her birthday and us almost making it through our first year of college.

"So, what's up with that painting on your balcony?" She said when we were halfway done with our meal.

"Oh, you saw that?"

"Yeah I saw that and many more people need to see it. Roxanne you have a talent."

"I'm glad you like it. It took me forever to name that painting. That's why I didn't enter it in anything when I was in high school because I couldn't come up with a name for the stupid painting." I said taking a sip of my water.

Sunny chewed the food that was in her mouth before she said, "Well, do you have one now?"

I smiled at her. "Well, yes, all thanks to you."

"What is it?"

"I Bleed Stars" I said, thinking of how much my painting reminded me of what Sunny said yesterday.
