As I sat on my table with Oliver and Jake, my attention was drawn to Elena, laughing and talking with Aaron.
What the fuck is she even doing here? What is she doing here with him?
A pang of jealousy twisted in my chest as I watched them together, all laughs and giggles. With Aaron's arm casually around Elena's back as he moved next to her from across the table, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of envy at their closeness.
Despite my best efforts to push aside my feelings, the thought of seeing Elena with someone else, of witnessing the easy conversation she was having with Aaron, filled me with a sense of unease and longing.
With a conflicted sigh, I pulled out my phone, my fingers hovering over the screen as I composed a message to her.
As I hit send, a sense of apprehension settled in the pit of my stomach. I couldn't shake the feeling that I needed to speak to her, to ask her about Aaron.
Before I could dwell on it further, I turned to Oliver, forcing a smile.
"Hey, man, sorry to bail on you like this, but I just got a text from the girl I told you about. She's not feeling well, and asked me if I could FaceTime her right now. I'll be back, I just really need to call her because she sounds like she's in really bad shape."
Oliver's brows furrowed with concern, but he nodded understandingly.
"No worries, Theo. Go call her. Let me know if you need anything, okay?"
With a quick nod to Oliver, I slipped through the crowd, my heart pounding in anticipation of what was going to happen next.
Outside, as Elena emerged from the bar, her expression a mix of curiosity and concern, I couldn't help but feel a rush of nerves.
Taking a deep breath to steady myself, I stepped forward to meet her, my words tumbling out in a jumble.
"What the fuck are you doing here with him?" I began.
There goes being calm.
Her brow furrowed with confusion and surprise, her eyes widening in disbelief
"Uhm, hello? Good night? I'm okay, thanks for asking." she sarcastically answers.
"I'm serious, why are you out with him?"
"Theo, what does it matter? What Aaron and I do has nothing to do with you."
The words hit me like a punch to the gut, and for a moment, I struggle to find my voice.
"Did you kiss him?"
"No, not yet."
"But you're planning on it?"
"Honestly? Yes, he's a nice guy."
He's a nice guy.
I'm a nice guy and she doesn't plan on kissing me.
"Don't do it." I say before I can even think about the words coming out of my mouth.
