2 years later

I'm 22 years old and I'm sitting on the couch of my living room in a Friday night on my pajamas eating ice cream.

It's safe to say that I'm not living my youth exactly how I should.

I turn on the TV and find myself going back to the one that's been my favorite channel for the past 2 years. I put on last night's game and watch it all.

It might be a stalker move but I just need to know how he is doing. I need to know he's okay and that his dream is actually coming true.

The Lakers are winning the game.

120-95 is on the screen.

What I'm really interested in is number 4. Theodore Sage. The one who captured my heart when I was a child and broke it when I was 20 years old, 2 years ago.

The moment he left had an impact on me like nothing else in my life. I couldn't eat, sleep or even walk in New York without hearing the sound of his laugh in my head. Without seeing his smile. Without remembering how his mouth felt on mine.

It's been 2 years and I can't even take our picture off my phone's wallpaper. It's still there, as if nothing has changed.

As I get back to reality and focus on TV again, I realize the game has finished and that they actually have an exclusive interview with some player.

Not long after, I recognize the number 4 on his jersey. My lucky number. It's Theo they're interviewing.

"Thank you for joining us today, Theodore. First, can you tell us how you feel about moving from the Lakers to the Knicks?"

What? He's changing teams? How did I not know that? He's coming to New York. What the hell?

"Well, it's definitely a big change. I'm grateful for my time with the Lakers and everything we accomplished here. I will forever be thankful to this team, they were the ones who put me on the radar and believed in me, but I'm also excited about the new opportunities and challenges that lie ahead with the Knicks."

"What exactly influenced your decision to join the Knicks?"

"There were several factors. The Knicks have a strong vision for the future and a great coaching staff. I also felt it was the right time for a new challenge in my career, and playing in New York is a unique opportunity. I went to college there, my best friend also plays on the team. Those were all factors. Besides, there's someone there I really miss and hope to get to see more often."
