After what seemed like an eternity, it was finally time for an actually good class, swordsmanship, no rules, no theories, no spells, just a sharp lump of steel being flung around, and Janko seemed ecstatic about it.
-It could be interesting.- Janko said. -I don't think I ever saw someone make sword fights boring.-
-I don't know, I once read this book about a swordsman.- I replied. -A real pain in the ass, not very entertaining.-
After debating the whole way to the Amphitheater about how that book could have made an entertaining sword fight, we reached it, only to see a note on the closed doors of our classroom.
"Today's class will take place in the Coliseum."
-Now this is cool.- Howard said. -We will do a Spartacus-like thing there?-
-Those were Gladiators, we are using swords.- Sadie explained. -They used Gladius, which were shorter than common swords.-
-What's the difference?-
-The school doesn't uses Gladius, they use common broadswords.-
-You lost me in Doesn't uses.-
Sadie just rolled her eyes, we then went to the Coliseum, which didn't take the name for granted, the huge roman walls extended almost to the sky. How tall was it? No idea, but probably more than 50 feet. Normally when you think about The Coliseum, you think yellow-ish ruins that are very old, but this one was marble white, with no even a single crack.
When we got there, we saw that it wasn't just Mrs. Wallace there, as Laguna was just by her side, with his usual face.
-Why is Laguna here?- I asked. -Is he monitoring us again?-
-Not this time kid, I'm actually substituting Mrs.Wallace for Swordsmanship and Demonology.- Laguna explained. -Don't worry, I'm completely qualified to instruct kids in these things.-
-I didn't know that Mrs.Wallace couldn't fight with a Sword, or conjure demons.- I said, putting my backpack in the ground. -I thought she was qualified in all matters.-
-And she is, but both of us agreed that I would be well suited to teach you these things.- Laguna said. -As I'm the superior Fighter and Demonologist.-
I picked up the training sword, which was just a wooden pole, it was relatively heavy, but light enough for me to hold it without any problem.
-So, what is the theory part of this class?- I asked Laguna, who finally took his hands out of his pockets. -I need to pick between being a mage and a Knight or something like that?-
-The Theory is that if you hit someone strong enough and with enough repetition, they will eventually stop moving.- Laguna said calmly. -Now, hit me.-
-What?-
-You heard me, hit me with your sword.- Laguna said. -You don't expect me to teach you how to do something without doing it, right?-
-Sure.- I said, raising the wooden pole. -Die Laguna, I guess.-
I rushed towards him, raising my sword, when I got close to him, Laguna extended his right hand and another sword shot to his hand, I swung my sword at him, who effortlessly blocked my attack.
–Again.- Laguna said, as I fell back. -Your enemy isn't going to stop because you made a weak attack once. Again.-
I tried again, and again Laguna blocked me, I tried several times but Laguna blocked all of them, his arm racing up and down, left and right, as he followed my attacks as if he could predict what I would do, his wrist would rotate easily to give him the best angle to defend my useless attacks.
