"And you better change your shirt when you land." Jada commanded me as she took my photo at the kiss and ride drop off. "Don't give them people a reason to try and turn you into their little exotic sex slave."

"Jada

"Jada..." I had already made a mental note to change in the bathroom once I landed but I rolled my eyes, smiling. "You really thought I was gonna show up to their house dressed like this?!" Then I went to hug her deeply, our arms wrapped tightly around each other.

Our embrace reminds me heavily of Derek. And I can honestly admit that I miss him already.

He left my apartment early this morning, not without having to deal with my pouting, slight tantrum or my refusal to let him put me down.

"And don't be taking your time and stuff, either. Be on the next flight out."

"I know. Soon as we close up on Sunday, Imma be on my way. A'ight, Mama?"

I had my arms around his neck, and my legs wrapped around his torso as I kissed his lips, burying my face into his neck. I remember whispering cute shit into his ear and he smiled, his keys jangling in his pocket as he cradled my ass on the way to the front door.

"Mmm. You promise, Derek?"

"I promise, baby."

My fits used to work on my dad growing up and it definitely worked on Derek's ass too. Because I was able to get him to fold, promising me that he would come to see me, even though it already seemed he was planning on it.

But it wouldn't be until a week from now, after he and Javonte close up their shop for a few days.

Our fight last night was unnecessarily petty and I should've been the one apologizing but Derek shocked me, having been the one to swallow his pride first.

We're both stubborn, he knows it, and I know it all too well. He knows that I'd rather sulk and pout than admit when I'm wrong. And that's something I need to work on.

I thought I was going to the Hamptons still mad at him, but he showed up at my door last night, ready to make things right.

And I let him... without hesitation.
