Derek, lost in his music, sat on his bed listening to Schoolboy Q's newest album Oxymoron on repeat.

He flipped through the textbook of his Introduction to Automotive Technology class, adamant about absorbing as much information he could. Because being one week late to school had put him behind, so he was determined to catch up.

The heavy beats of the music were doing what he wanted them to do, drown out the rest of the world, creating a bubble of focus around him.

And he didn't have a roommate yet, so he had the freedom to indulge in his music without interruption.

But that fell short when the song ended, transitioning to the next, as he heard a repetition of persistent, loud knocks and yelling coming from the other side of his door.

"Open the fucking door!" Soriyah's demands were very clear but Derek was confused, trying to figure out just who in the hell he could've pissed off when he hasn't even been on campus a whole 24 hours yet.

"Damn, a'ight!" Derek yells back, making his way to the door and when he opens it, his irritation goes away slightly when he's met with the sight of Soriyah, fuming from beneath him.

For a split second, Soriyah did take in his noticeable features. She quickly gazes at his beautifully dark complected skin, his succulent lips, the durag that rests on his head as well as his tall body that towers over hers.

But none of that matters right now as she stands on one leg, impatiently. Her head is cocked to the side as she holds up her phone with the 'Find My' app open. The app lead her right to his dorm, the location of where her iPad was tracked.

"Aye, shorty. You lost? What's ya name?" Derek said, looking down, licking his lips as if his charm was going to help diffuse whatever had her fuming inside.

"Un uh, ain't nobody got time for y'all thieving ass niggas right now. Where's my fucking iPad?" She demanded, her voice sharp with a fierce set of eyes to match.

"Aye, whatchu talmb—"

"Nigga stop playin'. My iPad was taken from the cafeteria where I left it. So you can go ahead and deny it all you want to but the app lead me right to your fucking dorm. Give me my shit back now."

Instantly, Derek scrunches his face, taken aback by her rude tone, wondering if all the females in Atlanta are like this. Loud and unreasonable.

And then he realized the iPad he stole from lost and found, thinking he could make a quick buck off of it, was likely hers.

Derek's financial aid paid for everything he needed, but being one week late to school had put him at a disadvantage and already, he was struggling to keep up with the additional costs.

Derek stood there, faced with Soriyah's anger and although he didn't take the iPad from the cafeteria like she was accusing him of, it was true that he took it from lost and found with plans to pawn it off-campus the next day.

By doing so, he was hoping to cover some of his expenses until his father was able to send money from his next paycheck.

"Mhm, that's why you ain't saying nothing... Stuck... 'Cause you know you got my fucking iPad, nigga. Gimme my shit back or I'm reporting you to the administration." Soriyah flips her hair, holding her hand out and batting her long eyelashes at Derek.

"Mmcht aye, you'on even gotta do all that, shorty I ain't know it belonged to anyone. I got it from lost and found."

"Ion even know if I wanna believe that bullshit."
