On a Friday night, everyone was turnt up at Mel's house, having a good time drinking, smoking and dancing the night away. Melanie never got a chance to show off her new home, courtesy of a new promotion she'd recently secured. So she saw this as a perfect opportunity to get everyone together.

The music was loud, lights were dimmed, and the energy was high. Everyone was having a good time and just enjoying the vibes. Most of the men were either, drinking, dancing or shooting the shit, playing spades at the round table in the corner while some of the women were huddled up sipping on their favorite drinks and gossiping over a bunch of random topics.

They also shared laughs on how ignorant some of the men at the round table were acting over their game of spades.

Even though they weren't the best of friends, Jada and Soriyah accepted Mel's invitation, bringing Derek and Javonte along with them because they usually don't go anywhere without each other as a group.

Since college, with them, friends came and went. But the four of them always remained, regardless of Derek and Soriyah's constant bickering and head-butting. It actually added to their dynamic, kept them tight. Jada and Javonte often joked that the two of them would end up together someday.

"Mhm, and now Ty Dolla $ign playing so you already know these niggas is 'bout to start looking for bitches to rub their dicks on for the next hour," Mel laughed over the loud music. She was leaning up against the kitchen counter, red solo cup in hand, smiling and enjoying how her party was turning out.

"Girl, don't I know it," Jada chuckled, shaking her head at the scene over by the card table. "And look, 'Vonte already staring at me."

Mel rolled her eyes, "That nigga does not know how to act when y'all in the same room, and I love that for youuu!" Instantly, Jada rolled her eyes, waving her off.

Then Jada peered over at Soriyah, who was quiet, leaning against the counter and heavy into her drink, just observing the scene. Just as she was about to place her cup back down, a high-pitched giggle emerged through the heavy bass of the music and she looked up to see Mel's new friend Kayla Pierce, attracting attention from across the living room.

She watched as Kayla laughed, being the only woman, wedged in the five-some group of men sitting around the pool table. Soriyah squinted at Kayla, taking in her flirty body language and how she let her hand linger a little too long on one dude's lap, whilst talking to another nigga over her shoulder. Jada peeped it too.

"Shit, Ion even know who that is and I can already tell she a hoe." Jada whispered to Soriyah who chuckled, her eyes still on Kayla.

"Yeah, she moving a lil' different." Soriyah finished her sentence and took a big sip of her Bacardi Gold.

Then she looks over at the sudden loud chatter coming from the card table, Derek sharing a laugh with the other guys playing.

"Nigga shut the fuck up and shuffle the cards." Nico said to Javonte, laughing loudly. One of the other guys at the table, Malik sits lazily, clearly still faded from the last blunt they had just finished smoking, but still finds the time to look across the room to where Soriyah was standing over a counter with her ass being the first thing he laid his eyes on.

She was wearing a short black dress that hugged her frame so perfectly that he had to do a double take.

As soon as she turned around and his eyes met hers, he quickly looked away, playing it off like he was focused on his hand of cards. Soriyah arched a brow, catching his curled lip, letting it slide.
