"Mr. Kapoor, I'll be very honest with you. I am not able to diagnose her problem. Last night, I went through her reports and even had a conversation with Dr. Singh, but I couldn't come across anything other than the BP problem," as Priya's words rang in his ear, Ram felt his throat dry and eyes watery.

The only person he can call his own was ill, and he wasn't able to do anything about it.

"Dr. Priya, I am not able to put my words in a better way, but is it the inability of the doctors or medical system here in India?" he asked. Being one of the richest businessmen in the city, he could easily afford medical treatment in a foreign country, but the only problem was what will he say to his mother, his Jaan.

"Sir, the first thing is medical treatment in India is quite efficient, and secondly, we did all the possible tests that any doctor would do," Priya's voice was a little firm this time.

'When will people trust the medical system of their own country?'

Ram's head hung low, "What do you suggest we should do to stop her heart's condition from deteriorating further?" he asked, helplessness quite evident in his tone.

Passing him a glass of water, Priya straightened up, "See Mr. Kapoor, you know when medications are suggested to aunty, they don't seem to work, but at the same time, when injections are given, they do work. That's why I thought maybe aunty is not taking the pills, but today when I asked her, I didn't feel at all that she was lying."

"Dr. Priya, can we not give her injections instead of oral medication?" Ram interrupted as soon as Priya completed.

"No, we can't give injections on a regular basis; it's dangerous," she paused to let him grasp the information.

As he nodded his head, she continued, "I would suggest, if you are okay, I was thinking of keeping her under medical observation for a week and seeing the effect of oral medication."

"You mean admit her to the hospital, that too for one week?" he asked, perplexed.

"Yes, and you don't have to worry. I look after my patients personally," Priya spoke, opening the lid of the glass which she had slid in his direction minutes back.

He picked up the glass, taking little sips, thinking of the next step, "Can we not keep her under observation in our house?" he asked a little later.

"Hospital would be better for close observation," came her immediate reply as she very well knew the next question.

"Koi aur option?" he asked for an alternative one last time as it would be a task to make his mother agree to stay here in a hospital, that too for a week.

"Abhi ke liye to nahi."

"When to admit?" he asked, helpless.

"As early as possible. If possible, tomorrow only."

"Tomorrow it is then," he sighed, getting up from his seat.

She too stood up along with him, shaking their hands, ending their meeting.

"Don't worry, I'll closely look after Auntie and make sure she doesn't have any discomfort," she spoke as she saw his slouched shoulders when he turned to move out.

A little smile made its way to his lips as he turned his head to thank her with a little nod, which she accepted with an assuring blink of her eyes.
