It had only been two hours since Shalini was admitted, but the entire hospital had already received information because of the fuss created by Ram.
Every nurse and ward boy was threatened by the hospital MD to look after Shalini's needs, and the junior doctors were instructed to visit her every thirty minutes.
"Is everything okay, aunty?" Priya asked, looking through Shalini's vital reports prepared by the juniors.
"Doctor, the quality of the mattress is not good, dekhiye kitne hard hai," Ram interjected before Shalini could speak, pressing the bed to show its hardness.
Priya's pointed gaze shifted to him as he continued to blabber about the quality, passing him a rather sarcastic smile. "Mr. Kapoor, it's an orthopedic mattress, and besides, this is a hospital, we know well what's best for our patients," she replied fittingly.
"..", Ram opened his mouth to argue but stayed silent as Shalini held his hand, preventing her overly concerned son from further embarrassing her.
" No, no, beta, it's all good," Shalini spoke, passing Priya an embarrassed smile, which she returned.
"Ok, take rest, aunty. I will meet you in the evening," with that, Priya took her leave.

Three days passed by in a similar manner.Shalini's health showed great improvements with just oral medications, impressing the doctors and making everyone more sure of the fact that she wasn't taking her medications properly, though no one pointed it out to her.
Being the jolly person with a friendly nature, Shalini easily bonded with the hospital staff, especially Priya.
Though Ram's days were pretty tiresome with his mornings in the office and nights at the hospital, he was relaxed. First, for his mother's improving health, second, that her days weren't going gloomy or lonely. Unlike what he thought, she was enjoying her time at the hospital, special thanks to his friends Alekha, Shardul, and his mother's friends who came to meet her daily during the visiting hours.
It was the evening of the third day. Priya was doing Shalini's regular checkup while Ram stood in one corner, resting his head against the wall. When a sudden question from Shalini made his head jerk up and eyes wide :
"Beta, aap shaadi kab kar rahe ho?"
Priya's hands halted as she looked in her direction, baffled by the sudden question about her personal life;
"Sorry, maine to aise hi pucha," she apologized for making her awkward.
"Abhi kuch decide nahi hai, parents kisi matrimony app pe dhundh rahe hai," Priya answered with a smile when she heard Shalini apologizing. In these little days she very well came across the fact that Shalini is the sweetest lady who speaks what's on her mind.
"Main to yahi dua karungi jisse tum chaho, jo tum chaho vo tumhe mil jae, just keep smiling always," Shalini spoke lovingly, but the excited glint in her eyes didn't go unnoticed by Ram.
"Thank you aunty, for such a lovely blessing," Priya passed her a grateful smile, continuing her work.
"Jaan, aap zyada excited nahi ho rahe ho," Ram instantly came near her as soon as Priya left.
Shalini looked at him with a mischievous smile, making Ram scared for his life.
"Sochna bhi mat," he declared with a fearful tone.
"Maine kya kiya?" she pouted on hearing her son's scolding.
A call on his phone disturbed their conversation.
