Soon after, Koby and Helmeppo were packing up his few belongings. A picture of him, Helmeppo and Garp beaming at the Transponder Snail. A spare bandanna, a spare pair of glasses, some gloves (for some reason?) a large stack of Beli, and some spare clothes, which were all Navy uniforms aside from a scarf, socks, and a pair of extra shoes.
Koby thought he'd overpacked, as it would only be a month at best. He hoped.
After Helmeppo stopped bursting into tears, he said farewell to his Navy friends and left a note for Vice-Admiral Garp, as he was sleeping off stress and probably shouldn't be seen with Koby for his own job and safety. Finally, he stepped onto the Straw-Hats ship with a wave.
The Navy ship departed with, "We'll see you soon!"'s and, "Don't get too friendly!"'s, as well as Helmeppo's whining fading into the distance.
Sanji tapped Koby on the arm after a while of the boy watching the Marine ship get smaller and smaller to tell him lunch was ready in the kitchen. The pinkette smiled and followed the chef, noting the layout of the ship subconsciously. What fine craftsmanship this is.. Did Cyborg Franky build it? He thought to himself.
Entering the kitchen, he was greeted by a bouncing Luffy and Chopper waiting for him.
"Finally! CAN WE EAT NOW, NAMI?! SANJI?!" Luffy yelled, and Sanji scoffed and nodded.
Koby stifled a giggle as Luffy dragged him towards the table and sat down excitedly, clanging his silverware while Sanji made plates.
Platters of fruit were splayed across the fine wood, and Sanji served an unbelievably delicious looking plate of seafood fried rice.
"Thank you, Sanji-san." Koby said, and began to eat. And after the very first bite, he stopped.
"Oh, wow. This is the best thing i've ever tasted!"
Sanji beamed at him, and the others smiled.
Half-way into lunch, Luffy grabbed a piece of shrimp from Koby's plate and got kicked in the head.
"YOU IDIOT! KOBY'S OUR GUEST! DONT STEAL FOOD, ANYWAY!" Sanji growled.
"BUT KOBY DOESN'T MIND!" Luffy whined.
"It's fine, Sanji-san. He's right, I don't mind." The navy-boy smiled and poured his leftover rice onto Luffy's plate. "I'm full now, but it was amazing. Thank you so much." Getting up, he looked around and then placed his plate in the sink and started to wash it.
"Koby, you don't need to wash it. I'll wash it later." Black-leg called over to him from his seat.
"It's okay. I want to make myself useful, since im burdening you all." Koby said.
"Don't say that!" Chopper popped up from his seat to wave frantically at Koby."Your our friend now, not a burden!" Sogeking, who Koby thought was actually named Usopp, grinned at him.
Koby felt inexplicably relieved at that, and smiled. "I don't mind doing chores. Is it okay if i atleast help around a bit? It helps me calm my nerves."
Sanji nodded after a brief moment, and Koby sat down again after washing his plate, listening to the conversation around.
And Koby didn't know how he felt. He was happy, guilty, kind of awkward and flustered for some reason.
So he just sat and listened to the band of "blood-thirsty, menacing, wrong-doing, wretched and evil" pirates who were talking about which was softer; cotton candy or sky island clouds.
