Thorn was sat at one of the iron chairs in her balcony smoking a cigarette. She was not wearing her jacket which made her scarred arms visible. She had just returned after a harsh training session which made her earn a bruise on her left hip.
The woman enjoyed her peace when she heard a knock on the door. She wouldn't have stood up to open if whoever was behind that door did not insist. Thorn opened the door only to see Roxanne standing in the hallway.
"What are you doing here!?" snapped the superior and pulled her colleague inside.
"Relax! I only came to see you!" Roxanne tried to reassure her trainer after flinching due to the door being slammed behind her.
"Do you know that if anyone finds us here we'll get in trouble!? How do you know where I live?"
"You forget that Max likes me". Explained Roxanne but her sassiness was cut in half once she saw Thorn's wounds. "What the fuck happened to you!?"
"Its none of your business chick". Thorn replied with a hint of aggressiveness in her tone. "Just the fact that you use boss' feelings for you to get what you want is enough to give me trust issues against you". She added with a tone full of venom.
"Instead of rubbing Max's feelings for me on my face why don't you just tell me where the first aid kit is?"
Thorn submitted to Roxanne's words and answered.
"Bathroom, on your left once you enter there's a cabinet".
With her superior's guide Roxanne found the bathroom in the apartment. It was a rather small room but enough for at least a person to fit. She turned her head to the left and found a small white cabinet. She opened it and found the first aid kit. The girl grabbed it and returned to the living room where Thorn was waiting.
The young woman immediately sat down on the couch next to her trainer. She opened the kit and began pulling out bandages, cotton and some medicine to apply on Thorn's wounds.
"For now I need you to stay still". She said.
Thorn scoffed.
"How bad can it possibly be?"
In fact it was quite painful. The truth is that Thorn never took care of her wounds whenever she earned them and was never familiar with the touch of alcohol on those vulnerable spots.
"That burns!" she screamed.
"And I thought you've been through worse than this". Replied Roxanne with a hint of sarcasm in her voice.
"This is the worst!" cried Thorn.
"I'm going to believe that you've never treated your wounds before".
Thorn stayed silent at her subordinate's statement. Roxanne on the other hand took her silence as an answer with wide eyes.
"Seriously!? You never treat your wounds!?"
"Come on! Its not a big deal really". Thorn tried to resonate with her.
Roxanne pressed the cotton with the medicine on with pressure on one of her wounds earning a scream from her superior.
"Oh you piece of-"
And that's how it went on. Roxanne trying to treat Thorn's wounds while the other female would flinch, complain and throw insults towards her subordinate.
After the process was done Roxanne patched up her trainer's wounds with bandages.
"See? It wasn't that of a big deal". The girl tried to reassure her.
In the meantime Thorn was about to finish hissing from the pain.
"That was worse than being tortured". Stated the superior.
The young woman collected the medical supplies back in the kit and went to put it back at it's cabinet. She then returned to Thorn who had her head thrown back and her arms stretched over the head of the couch and sat next to her.
"Mind telling me how did this happen to you?" asked Roxanne willing to break the silence between them.
Thorn just threw a warning glance at her and then spoke.
"I was punished for letting you out of my control". The other female began with a bitter tone. "You really shouldn't have approached that room".
"Oh my god... its all my fault after all".
"Don't be. I don't need your stupid sympathy. I chose this path".
Silence fell once again among the girls. An awkward at that. That was until Thorn decided to break it again.
"Enough about me tho... why don't you tell me about you Roxy?"
"Me!?" Roxanne almost chocked on her saliva. "There's nothing really interesting about me. I've had it rough in life too".
"Really?" asked Thorn as she raised an eyebrow in surprise. "You don't seem like it. Although Maximus told me that you once were a waitress in a bar he owned and that you had something with... his rival".
Upon the hearing of the last words Roxanne's aura darkened.
"Can we please not talk about this? Its all in the past".
Thorn hummed in skepticism.
"Fine. If it pains you that much, I'll remain on the fact that you had it rough".
More minutes of silenced passed when Thorn spoke again.
"What about Maximus?" she asked.
"What about him?" Roxanne asked back as she turned to face her superior in confusion.
"What about the feelings he has for you? Could you call it a second chance in love?"
Roxanne though about Thorn's words for a bit.
"The truth is that I never felt a single thing about him. He tries to make a move during the extra training sessions I have with him but I dismiss him by a cheap excuse".
"He must be so in love to believe them". Commented Thorn and laughed with sarcasm.
"If I'm being honest, Candace, you're not as bad as I thought". Said Roxanne all of a sudden.
Thorn froze. She hasn't heard her subordinate calling her by her real name again. It felt weird.
"H-How did you think I'd be?" she asked while stuttering.
"Well your appearance kinda gave off the worst impressions but if someone gets to know you... then it's different". Replied Roxanne with a soft smile.
Thorn smiled too and the night went on with the two girls chatting and sharing secrets and experiences.
