Deceptions of the Heart II: Love is going to be the death of me

The last mission

Somewhere, at the outskirts of the city, a warehouse was located. According to Leonard Rider it was the warehouse where the assassins of the Rider mafioso family were supposed to find the new organization that threatened them and assassin it's members alongside the leader.

The assassins reached the warehouse during a sunset. Among them Roxanne, Thorn and Max. This time they were not divided in teams. A whole group lead by Max himself.

Before they intrude Max walked ahead towards the warehouse and turned to face his teammates.

"Remember, our new rivals are much more powerful. Don't forget that they have collaborations with the Lawrence family and they might be here for revenge. Under no circumstances must we underestimate them".

The last sentence was pointed out by the male.

The mafiosos replied with a 'yes sir' altogether. Max then focused his gaze on the warehouse. He slowly approached the huge wooden door and placed his ear on the surface. He waited for a couple of moments. He then spoke to his teammates.

"I don't hear anything. Get in fight positions and load your guns because they might be waiting for us". He announced.

Everyone including Roxanne and Thorn prepared guns and firearms.

"I'm kind of scared Candace". Whispered Roxanne as she prepared her revolver.

"We've been through worse. Don't focus on the mass murder they committed on your wedding day. Those cunts will be a piece of cake". Thorn reassured her as she prepared a riffle. "By the way are you going to fight with just this revolver?" she asked with a teasing smirk.

Roxanne glanced at her revolver.

"Do you expect me to carry a heavy firegun?"

Thorn laughed at her statement.

The girls were interrupted by Max's echoaching voice.

"Okay team, looks like we'll need to separate. I need ten people to search around the warehouse for any danger. The rest of you are going with me". He paused. His gaze then fell on Roxanne. "You are definitely not following me". He said sternly.

"What!? Why!?" cried Roxanne.

"I'm not going to endanger you. You saw what they did last week on our wedding day". Explained Max with his stern tone.

"That's unfair! I don't give a shit about what happened on our wedding day! I'm going in!" the young woman attempted to wall towards the warehouse when Max's palm stopped her.

"I said it once Roxanne, I won't say it twice". He warned.

"There's no way I'm letting you all alone in there!" snapped Roxanne.

Thorn who witnessed the argument between the girl and the leader gripped Roxanne's wrist and pulled her away from the male.

"Roxy!" she shouted as she forced the other female to look at her. "We don't have time for arguments right now. We have to carry out this mission. You obey the boss or you stay out of this! Max doesn't want to endanger you and I'm not doing it either!"

Thorn's words seemed to bring Roxanne back to her senses. The young woman relaxed and let out a sigh of submission and disappointment.

"Fine..." she said finally.

"And whatever happens I don't want you to get in the warehouse got it!?" added Thorn.

Roxanne did not seem very fine with this idea. She opened her mouth hesitantly.

"Did you hear me Roxy? You won't enter the warehouse under no circumstances". Repeated Thorn.

"I don't know Candace... I can't leave you all like that... I can't leave you like that". Admitted Roxanne.

Thorn's expression softened.

"I know but its for your own good. We are professionals. We can handle it. Do what the boss said and everything will be fine". She tried to reassure her friend.

"She is right Roxanne. This is serious. We can't have your well-being in our minds". Added Max who witnessed Thorn's reasoning with the girl.

Roxanne once again made that sigh of submission but with no hint of disappointment within it's sound.

"Okay..." she said finally. "Good luck".

Thorn smiled.

"Good luck to you too". She said and slowly released Roxanne from her grip.

"Okay team, we are ready to burst in. Have you all prepared yourselves?" Max's voice echoached.

The mafiosos once again replied with a 'yes sir' altogether.

"Great!" he then faced the door of the warehouse once again. "Attack!" he yelled and all the mafiosos intruded in the warehouse except for Roxanne and nine other mafiosos.

The mission had just began. Roxanne and her teammates were running around the warehouse checking for any possible danger. The sound of fighting could be heard from the interior of the warehouse. The slaughter had began.
