One blink, two blinks, three and Roxanne finally opened her eyes. She was gazing a white ceiling. She slowly tried to sit up which she did with a lot of struggling.

She found herself on a hospital bed with an IV attached to her and bandages on her abdomen right where she had been shot. She looked around only to find Thorn sleeping on the chair next to her bed. She tapped her on the shoulder gently.

Thorn slowly opened her eyes and immediately came across the sight of an awakened Roxanne.

"Roxy!" she yelped with excitement and quickly hugged her friend.

Roxanne flinched.

"Ow! Candace watch out".

"Oh... sorry..." Thorn loosened her grip a bit before she pulled away completely.

"So, I survived". Began Roxanne.

"Maximus turned the world upside down to call an ambulance. You lost a lot of blood but your surgery went well. That is something". Explained Thorn.

"Where is he now?" asked Roxanne.

"He once again fled the country. His ex wife was arrested and his father died of cardiac arrest".

"Wow... guess Richard's curse had an effect". Mumbled Roxanne.

"Who?" asked Thorn.

Roxanne snapped out of her thoughts.

"No one!"

There was a moment of silence between them. Thorn decided to break it.

"You know Roxy, I don't think I'd live on with my life if I lost you". She admitted as her hand gently interlocked with Roxanne's.

Roxanne blushed at this and looked away.

"If it is what I think it is you'd better give me some time Candace. I didn't have a good time with romantic relationships as you know". Replied Roxanne bitterly.

Thorn seemed to understand where she was coming from.

"I won't pressure you". She said finally and the topic changed.

The girls had a good time chatting about different things. Roxanne would stay in the hospital for at least one more week. During that time Thorn would often visit her. She brought her gifts and made different kinds of both friendly and romantic gestures. Both of them knew that it wouldn't be long till a new chance in love would bloom.
