Once I open my eyes, I realize I'm in unfamiliar territory.
- Like what you see, Trevor asks.
- Where did you take me. What do you want, I yell.
- Relax, my dear princess. No one is going to be able to find you even if you scream your lungs out, Trevor says. He runs his index finger over my invisible bindings, then up to my chin. Though my heart is racing, I force myself to lower my voice.
- Are you the leader of the resistance, I ask.
- You could say that, Trevor says.
- I can't believe Trevor is behind all this. I should've known, I say in my head. Frantically, I look around for some way to escape while wriggling out of his binding spell.
- There's no way I can overpower this guy. He's been testing my abilities this whole time, I say in my head. Trevor chuckles.
- You really are a feisty little thing, aren't you, Trevor asks. He snorts with slight irritation.
- I may have to correct that behavior before it becomes a problem later on. Discipline is important for a good wife, after all, Trevor says. He reaches toward my face, and I flinch. But to my surprise, he carefully pushes stray strands of hair out of my face. Somehow, I find myself enjoying how gentle he's being, but it only confuses me more about what his intentions are.
- How does he have this effect on me, I ask in my head.
- I would never dream of becoming your wife, I say.
- Oh, Trevor asks. He grips my jaw and forces me to look at him. His grip and hot gaze make my senses go haywire.
- The way your body reacts to me touching you says otherwise, Trevor says. While my face burns up, he lets out a low laugh and releases me, roaming around the room.
Trevor starts rustling through strange equipment. He mumbles something under his breath, aggravated.
- Where is that book. There it is, Trevor says.
- Why are you doing this, I yell. Trevor puts down the book and turns his attention back to me. He holds his elbow, his other hand resting on his chin in thought.
- Let's just say your father and I have a messy past. But I don't have time to get into it. All you have to know is that he's a terrible ruler and neglects what is best for Hell and its inhabitants. But me. I could make some rightful changes if I were in charge. But the only way I can take his place is if I marry you. And what better way to get back at that waste of a king than to marry his daughter and overthrow him, Trevor says.
- So that's why he wants to marry me. This is really bad. I need to get back to the others, I say in my head.
As he's talking, I try to slip away subtly. Even though my arms are bound, I can slightly move my legs. Shuffling inch by inch, I manage to get closer to an exit. My hand brushes against the door knob. But when I try to open it, I realize the door is locked from the other side.
- Ah, how adorable. Do you think I'd actually let you leave that easily, Trevor asks. He drags me back over to a chair and begins to strap me in.
- You're mine Princess, now sit down. Don't worry, I don't bite, much, Trevor says. He learns in close, his breath hot against my neck as he nips at my skin. My entire body heats up at the velvety sound of his voice, and his enticing offer.
- No. Don't be swayed, Kira. The peace of two worlds is on the line, I yell in my head.
- You won't get away with this. Once everyone finds out what you're doing, they're going to punish you, I yell.
