A/N: Hello! I know it's been a while since I've updated UM - but I was focusing on finishing up Meri Musibat (which is now completed if anyone was waiting for it to finish before reading). Over the next few weeks, I hope to focus on UM to finish it up. Onto a super-long chapter (with tons of smut in the second half following the fluff), hehe. See you on the other side!

The morning sun filtered through the large windows of the clinic, casting a warm and inviting glow on the pristine tiles of the waiting room. The soft hum of conversations and the occasional rustle of a magazine created a soothing backdrop, a gentle hum that seemed to underscore the anticipation that filled the space.

Murtasim's gaze drifted around the waiting room, noting the few occupants – three women seated separately and a couple sharing a quiet conversation. His mind wandered, curious about the absence of their husbands. Were they at work? Or perhaps tending to other responsibilities?

"Murtasim, stop," Meerab's gentle whisper cut through his thoughts, her hand resting lightly on his knee. It was only then that he realized his foot had been tapping incessantly, a subconscious display of his restless energy. He turned to his wife, a sheepish smile spreading across his face, an unspoken apology for his nervousness.

"Nervous?" she asked, her voice laced with a hint of amusement.

He shrugged, trying to downplay the fluttering in his stomach. "Maybe a little," he admitted, his voice betraying the anxiety he felt.

"I thought you were sure it is a choti shehzadi," she teased, her eyes twinkling with playful challenge.

He sighed deeply. "I am 99% sure, but on the 1% off chance, I've been calling our baby boy a choti shehzadi. What if that influences how he turns out?"

Meerab's snicker was a balm to his nerves, her laughter light and infectious. "You say the funniest things for someone who is constantly reading baby books," she replied, her tone affectionate.

He let out another sigh.

Her hand found his, a gesture of comfort, while her other hand rested gently on her belly. Murtasim turned fully towards her, placing his hand over hers on her stomach, wishing he could feel a subtle movement beneath his palm already.

Meerab gave him a look, a silent reminder of their public setting, but he merely shrugged, his thumb gently rubbing her knuckles.

The moment was interrupted by the arrival of a nurse, her smile warm. She called out, "Meerab," her voice carrying a welcoming tone.

Murtasim felt a jolt of energy surge through him—stronger than he anticipated—as he sprang to his feet, his eyes only on Meerab. He reached out, his hand brushing against hers, their fingers intertwining as he helped her to stand. He noticed the slight coolness of her palm, a contrast to the warmth in his own, and he didn't let go, the soft pressure of his grip meant to reassure both her and himself as they followed the nurse.

As Murtasim and Meerab entered the softly lit room, Dr. Abbasi greeted them with a warm smile. "Meerab, Murtasim – nice to see you again."

"Good to see you too," Meerab responded, her smile broad as she nodded at the doctor.

"I got a phone call from an old student of mine, telling me I needed to take exceptionally good care of you," Dr. Abbasi laughed, a sound that seemed to lighten the atmosphere instantly.

Murtasim grinned and nodded in acknowledgment, feeling a sense of warmth at the mention of Dua. "Dua is a sweetheart," Meerab added, her giggle echoing his sentiments.
